<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span> 事情是這樣的，他把那條河命名為拉曼，該河注入紅海；那山谷就在靠近河流出海口的邊境上。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> And it came to pass that he called the name of the river, Laman, and it emptied into the Red Sea; and the valley was in the borders near the mouth thereof.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>9</span> 我父親看到河水流入紅海的源流中，就對拉曼說：但願你能像這條河一樣，不斷流入一切正義的源頭！</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> And when my father saw that the waters of the river emptied into the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng fountain] of the Red Sea, he spake unto Laman, saying: O that thou mightest be like unto this river, continually running into the fountain of all righteousness!</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>10</span> 他也對雷米爾說：但願你能像這座山谷一樣，堅定穩固不移，遵守主的誡命！</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> And he also spake unto Lemuel: O that thou mightest be like unto this valley, <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng firm] and <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng steadfast], and immovable in keeping the commandments of the Lord!</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> Now this he spake because of the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng stiffneckedness] of Laman and Lemuel; for behold they did <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng murmur] in many things against their <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng father], because he was a <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng visionary] man, and had led them out of the land of Jerusalem, to leave the land of their inheritance, and their gold, and their silver, and their precious things, to perish in the wilderness. And this they said he had done because of the foolish imaginations of his heart.</p>

And they did <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng murmur] because they <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng knew]not the dealings of that God who had <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng created] them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span> 他們也不信耶路撒冷那座大城會<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/1_ne/2/13a 照]先知的話毀滅；他們就像耶路撒冷那些企圖取我父親性命的猶太人一樣。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> Neither did they <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng believe] that Jerusalem, that great city, could be <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng destroyed] according to the words of the prophets. And they were like unto the Jews who were at Jerusalem, who sought to take away the life of my father.</p>

And he did confound them, that they durst not utter against him; wherefore, they did as he commanded them.</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span> 我對賽姆說話，要讓他知道主藉著神聖之靈對我顯示的事。事情是這樣的，他相信了我的話。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> And I spake unto Sam, making known unto him the things which the Lord had manifested unto me by his Holy Spirit. And it came to pass that he believed in my words.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> And inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng prosper], and shall be led to a <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/2?lang=eng land] of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you; yea, a land which is choice above all other lands.</p>
