<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> Now I do not write upon these plates all the words which they murmured against me. But it sufficeth me to say, that they did seek to take away my life.</p>

And we began to raise flocks, and herds, and animals of every kind.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And I did teach my people to <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng build] buildings, and to <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng work] in all <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng manner] of wood, and of <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng iron], and of copper, and of <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng brass], and of steel, and of <sup class='englishSup'>f</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng gold], and of silver, and of precious ores, which were in great abundance.</p>

But the manner of the construction was like unto the temple of<sup class='englishSup'>f</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng Solomon]; and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span>  事情是這樣的，我，尼腓，使我的人民<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=zho 勤勞]，並親手工作。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did cause my people to be<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng industrious], and to <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng labor] with their <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng hands].</p>

But I, Nephi, was desirous that they should have no king; nevertheless, I did for them according to that which was in my power.</p>

For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng delightsome], that they might not be <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng enticing] unto my people the Lord God did cause a <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng skin] of <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/5?lang=eng blackness] to come upon them.</p>

And the Lord spake it, and it was done.</p>
