<p class='english'>The invading Lamanites are unable to take the fortified cities of Ammonihah and Noah—Amalickiah curses God and swears to drink the blood of Moroni—Helaman and his brethren continue to strengthen the Church. About 72 B.C.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>1</span> 事情是這樣的，第十九年的第十一個月的第十日，有人看見拉曼軍隊向艾蒙乃哈地逼近。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And now it came to pass in the eleventh month of the nineteenth year, on the tenth day of the month, the armies of the Lamanites were seen approaching towards the land of<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng Ammonihah].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>2</span> 看啊，那城經過重建，摩羅乃派了一支軍隊駐在該城邊境；他們把土堆在城的四周，防禦拉曼人的弓箭與石頭；因為看啊，他們是用石頭和弓箭作戰的。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> And behold, the city had been rebuilt, and Moroni had stationed an army by the borders of the city, and they had <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng cast]up dirt round about to shield them from the arrows and the<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng stones] of the Lamanites; for behold, they fought with stones and with arrows.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>3</span> 看啊，我說<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/3a 艾蒙乃哈]城經過重建，我告訴你們，是的，那是部分重建；那城由於居民的罪惡曾遭拉曼人摧毀，拉曼人以為他們又可以輕易掠奪那城。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> Behold, I said that the city of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng Ammonihah] had been rebuilt. I say unto you, yea, that it was in part rebuilt; and because the Lamanites had destroyed it once because of the iniquity of the people, they supposed that it would again become an easy prey for them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>4</span> 但是看啊，他們大失所望，因為看啊，尼腓人已在四周堆了一道土脊，土脊的高度使拉曼人的石頭與弓箭無法擲中尼腓人，發生不了作用，除非從入口進攻，否則他們無法突襲尼腓人。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> But behold, how great was their disappointment; for behold, the Nephites had dug up a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng ridge] of earth round about them, which was so high that the Lamanites could not cast their stones and their arrows at them that they might take effect, neither could they come upon them save it was by their place of<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng entrance].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>5</span> 這時，拉曼軍的總隊長都非常驚訝尼腓人在準備防禦處所上所表現的智慧。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>5</span> Now at this time the chief <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng captains] of the Lamanites were astonished exceedingly, because of the wisdom of the Nephites in preparing their places of security.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>6</span> 拉曼軍的首領以為他們人數眾多，大有機會可以像以前一樣突襲尼腓人；是的，他們也帶著盾牌，穿上胸甲，也準備了皮衣，是的，很厚的衣服來蔽體。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> Now the leaders of the Lamanites had supposed, because of the greatness of their numbers, yea, they supposed that they should be privileged to come upon them as they had hitherto done; yea, and they had also prepared themselves with shields, and with<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng breastplates]; and they had also prepared themselves with garments of skins, yea, very thick garments to cover their nakedness.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span> 他們作了這樣的準備，以為能輕易打敗自己的弟兄，使他們受制於奴役之軛，或恣意殺害或屠殺他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And being thus prepared they supposed that they should easily overpower and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng subject] their brethren to the yoke of bondage, or slay and massacre them according to their pleasure.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span> 但是看啊，最令他們訝異的是，他們<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/8a 備戰]的方法是李海子孫中從沒有人知道的。這時，他們已準備好迎戰拉曼人，照摩羅乃指示的方法作戰。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> But behold, to their uttermost astonishment, they were<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng prepared] for them, in a manner which never had been known among the children of Lehi. Now they were prepared for the Lamanites, to battle after the manner of the instructions of Moroni.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>9</span> 事情是這樣的，拉曼人或亞瑪利凱人對尼腓人備戰的方法都感到非常訝異。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> And it came to pass that the Lamanites, or the Amalickiahites, were exceedingly astonished at their manner of preparation for war.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> Now, if king Amalickiah had come down out of the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng land] of Nephi, at the head of his army, perhaps he would have caused the Lamanites to have attacked the Nephites at the city of Ammonihah; for behold, he did care not for the blood of his people.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>11</span> 但是看啊，亞瑪利凱並未親自出戰。看啊，他的總隊長不敢攻打艾蒙乃哈城的尼腓人，因為摩羅乃改變了尼腓人處理事務的方法，使拉曼人因他們的掩護處所而大失所望，無法突襲他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> But behold, Amalickiah did not come down himself to battle. And behold, his chief captains durst not attack the Nephites at the city of Ammonihah, for Moroni had altered the management of affairs among the Nephites, insomuch that the Lamanites were disappointed in their places of retreat and they could not come upon them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>12</span> 於是他們撤退到曠野裡，帶著營帳向挪亞地進軍，以為那是他們攻打尼腓人的第二最佳地點。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> Therefore they retreated into the wilderness, and took their camp and marched towards the land of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng Noah], supposing that to be the next best place for them to come against the Nephites.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span> 他們不曉得摩羅乃已鞏固附近各地的每個城市，興建防禦<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/13a 堡壘]，所以他們懷著堅定的決心向挪亞地進軍；是的，他們的總隊長都出來宣誓要消滅該城的居民。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> For they knew not that Moroni had fortified, or had built<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng forts] of security, for every city in all the land round about; therefore, they marched forward to the land of Noah with a firm determination; yea, their chief captains came forward and took an<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng oath] that they would destroy the people of that city.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span> 但是看啊，令他們訝異的是，向來薄弱的挪亞城如今卻因摩羅乃的方法而堅強，是的，甚至強過艾蒙乃哈城。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> But behold, to their astonishment, the city of Noah, which had hitherto been a weak place, had now, by the means of Moroni, become strong, yea, even to exceed the strength of the city Ammonihah.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>15</span> 現在看啊，這就是摩羅乃的智慧；他料到拉曼軍會因艾蒙乃哈城而懼怕，而挪亞城向來是那地方最弱的部分，因此，他們會去攻打那城；果然一切都不出他所料。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And now, behold, this was wisdom in Moroni; for he had supposed that they would be frightened at the city Ammonihah; and as the city of Noah had hitherto been the weakest part of the land, therefore they would march thither to battle; and thus it was according to his desires.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span> 看啊，摩羅乃任命李海擔任該城部隊的總隊長；在西頓河東岸的山谷中與拉曼人作戰的就是這<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/16a 同]一位李海。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And behold, Moroni had appointed Lehi to be chief captain over the men of that city; and it was that <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng same] Lehi who fought with the Lamanites in the valley on the east of the river Sidon.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span> 現在看啊，事情是這樣的，拉曼人發現李海指揮那城，又大失所望，因為他們很怕李海；可是他們的總隊長曾發誓要進攻那城，所以他們就把軍隊帶上來。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> And now behold it came to pass, that when the Lamanites had found that Lehi commanded the city they were again disappointed, for they feared Lehi exceedingly; nevertheless their chief captains had <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng sworn] with an oath to attack the city; therefore, they brought up their armies.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span> 現在看啊，除了入口以外，土堤都築得很高，四周的壕溝又掘得很深，所以除了入口以外，拉曼軍無法從其他通路進入尼腓人的防禦堡壘。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> Now behold, the Lamanites could not get into their forts of security by any other way save by the entrance, because of the highness of the bank which had been thrown up, and the depth of the ditch which had been dug round about, save it were by the entrance.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span> 尼腓人作了準備，用投擲石頭和弓箭消滅所有想從別處爬進堡壘的人。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> And thus were the Nephites prepared to destroy all such as should attempt to climb up to enter the fort by any other way, by casting over stones and arrows at them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span> 他們準備了一組最強壯的人，帶著刀劍和投石器，以擊倒所有想從入口進入防禦處所的人；他們就這樣準備好，為自衛而抵抗拉曼人。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> Thus they were prepared, yea, a body of their strongest men, with their swords and their slings, to smite down all who should attempt to come into their place of security by the place of<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng entrance]; and thus were they prepared to defend themselves against the Lamanites.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span> 事情是這樣的，拉曼軍的隊長們把軍隊帶到入口處開始與尼腓人作戰，要進入他們的防禦處所，但是看啊，他們不時被擊退，死傷慘重。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> And it came to pass that the captains of the Lamanites brought up their armies before the place of entrance, and began to contend with the Nephites, to get into their place of security; but behold, they were driven back from time to time, insomuch that they were slain with an immense slaughter.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span> 他們發現無法在隘口戰勝尼腓人，便開始去挖尼腓人的土堤，給自己的軍隊挖一條通路，好有個平等的作戰機會；但是看啊，他們在嘗試的時候，被投向他們的石頭和弓箭擊倒；非但沒有把土堤挖掉來填平壕溝，反而填進不少死傷的身體。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> Now when they found that they could not obtain power over the Nephites by the pass, they began to dig down their banks of earth that they might obtain a pass to their armies, that they might have an equal chance to fight; but behold, in these attempts they were swept off by the stones and arrows which were thrown at them; and instead of filling up their ditches by pulling down the banks of earth, they were filled up in a measure with their dead and wounded bodies.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span> 於是尼腓人全面戰勝敵人；拉曼人就這樣企圖消滅尼腓人，直到他們的總隊長都戰死為止；是的，戰死的拉曼人有一千多人，另一方面，尼腓人卻沒有一個陣亡。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> Thus the Nephites had all power over their enemies; and thus the Lamanites did attempt to destroy the Nephites until their<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng chief] captains were all slain; yea, and more than a thousand of the Lamanites were slain; while, on the other hand, there was not a single soul of the Nephites which was slain.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>24</span> 約有五十個人受傷，他們在隘口處暴露於拉曼人的弓箭下；但是由於他們有盾牌、胸甲、頭盔防護，所以傷口都在腿上，其中許多傷口都非常嚴重。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> There were about fifty who were wounded, who had been exposed to the arrows of the Lamanites through the pass, but they were shielded by their <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng shields], and their breastplates, and their head-plates, insomuch that their wounds were upon their legs, many of which were very severe.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span> 事情是這樣的，拉曼人看到他們的總隊長都戰死了，便逃到曠野裡去。事情是這樣的，他們回到尼腓地，向尼腓人出身的國王亞瑪利凱報告慘重的損失。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> And it came to pass, that when the Lamanites saw that their chief captains were all slain they fled into the wilderness. And it came to pass that they returned to the land of Nephi, to inform their king, Amalickiah, who was a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng Nephite] by birth, concerning their great <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng loss].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>26</span> 事情是這樣的，亞瑪利凱十分惱怒他的人民，因為他控制尼腓人的願望沒有實現，不能使他們受制於奴役之軛。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>26</span> And it came to pass that he was exceedingly angry with his people, because he had not obtained his desire over the Nephites; he had not subjected them to the yoke of bondage.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>27</span> 是的，他很生氣；他<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/27a 詛咒]神，也詛咒摩羅乃，<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/27b 發誓]要喝他的血；這是因為摩羅乃遵守神的誡命，為他同胞的安全作了準備。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>27</span> Yea, he was exceedingly wroth, and he did <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng curse] God, and also Moroni, swearing with an <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng oath] that he would drink his blood; and this because Moroni had kept the commandments of God in preparing for the safety of his people.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>28</span> 事情是這樣的，在另一方面，尼腓人<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/49/28a 感謝]主他們的神，因為祂以無比的大能拯救他們脫離敵人的手。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>28</span> And it came to pass, that on the other hand, the people of Nephi did <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng thank] the Lord their God, because of his matchless power in delivering them from the hands of their enemies.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>29</span> 法官統治尼腓人的第十九年就這樣結束了。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>29</span> And thus ended the nineteenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>30</span> Yea, and there was continual peace among them, and exceedingly great prosperity in the church because of their heed and diligence which they gave unto the word of God, which was declared unto them by Helaman, and Shiblon, and Corianton, and Ammon and his brethren, yea, and by all those who had been ordained by the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/49?lang=eng holy] order of God, being baptized unto repentance, and sent forth to preach among the people.</p>
