<p class='chinese'>一八三九年三月，先知約瑟 • 斯密被囚禁在密蘇里，利伯地監獄時，說明對於迫害他們的人，聖徒有何職責〔教會史，3:302–303〕。</p>
<p class='english'>Duty of the Saints in relation to their persecutors, as set forth by Joseph Smith the Prophet, while a prisoner in the jail at Liberty, Missouri, March 1839 (see History of the Church, 3:302–3).</p>
<p class='chinese'>1–6，聖徒應蒐集和出版他們受苦和被迫害的紀錄；7–10，制定假教條的靈也導致聖徒遭受迫害；11–17，所有的教派中有許多人將來會接受真理。</p>
<p class='english'>1–6, The Saints should collect and publish an account of their sufferings and persecutions; 7–10, The same spirit that established the false creeds also leads to persecution of the Saints; 11–17, Many among all sects will yet receive the truth.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>1</span> 還有，我們建議你們考慮這樣做是否適當：要所有的聖徒蒐集一切事實，和這一州的人民加在他們身上的痛苦和虐待的資料；</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And again, we would suggest for your consideration the propriety of all the saints <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng gathering] up a knowledge of all the facts, and <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng sufferings] and abuses put upon them by the people of this State;</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>5</span> And all that are in the magazines, and in the encyclopedias, and all the libelous histories that are published, and are writing, and by whom, and present the whole concatenation of diabolical rascality and nefarious and murderous impositions that have been practised upon this people—</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> That we may not only publish to all the world, but present them to the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng heads] of government in all their dark and hellish hue, as the last effort which is enjoined on us by our Heavenly Father, before we can fully and completely claim that promise which shall call him forth from his <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng hiding] place; and also that the whole nation may be left without excuse before he can send forth the power of his mighty arm.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> It is an imperative duty that we owe to God, to angels, with whom we shall be brought to stand, and also to ourselves, to our wives and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng children], who have been made to bow down with grief, sorrow, and care, under the most damning hand of murder, tyranny, and <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng oppression], supported and urged on and upheld by the influence of that spirit which hath so strongly riveted the<sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng creeds] of the fathers, who have inherited lies, upon the hearts of the children, and filled the world with confusion, and has been growing stronger and stronger, and is now the very mainspring of all corruption, and the whole <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng earth] groans under the weight of its iniquity.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span> 那是鐵<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/123/8a 軛]，是堅固的束縛；那些正是地獄的手銬、索鏈、枷鎖和腳鐐。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> It is an iron <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng yoke], it is a strong band; they are the very handcuffs, and chains, and shackles, and fetters of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng hell].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>9</span> 所以那不僅是我們對自己的妻子兒女，也是我們對寡婦孤兒必須要盡到的職責，他們的丈夫和父親已在其鐵手下被<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/123/9a 謀殺]；</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> Therefore it is an imperative duty that we owe, not only to our own wives and children, but to the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng widows] and fatherless, whose husbands and fathers have been <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng murdered] under its iron hand;</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> Which dark and blackening deeds are enough to make hell itself <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng shudder], and to stand aghast and pale, and the hands of the very devil to tremble and palsy.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>11</span> 而且那也是我們對所有新生的一代和所有心地純潔的人必須要盡到的職責──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> And also it is an imperative duty that we owe to all the rising generation, and to all the pure in heart—</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span> 所以我們應該用盡我們的生命，揭開我們所知道的、<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/123/13a 隱藏]的黑暗之事；那些事確實是從天上顯示的──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> Therefore, that we should waste and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng wear] out our lives in bringing to light all the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/123?lang=eng hidden] things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> Let no man count them as small things; for there is much which lieth in futurity, pertaining to the saints, which depends upon these things.</p>
