<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And now I, Moroni, proceed to give an <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng account] of those ancient inhabitants who were destroyed by the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng hand] of the Lord upon the face of this north country.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> And I take mine account from the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng twenty] and four plates which were found by the people of Limhi, which is called the Book of Ether.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> And as I suppose that the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng first] part of this record, which speaks concerning the creation of the world, and also of Adam, and an account from that time even to the great <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng tower], and whatsoever things transpired among the children of men until that time, is had among the Jews—</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> Therefore I do not write those things which transpired from the days of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng Adam] until that time; but they are had upon the plates; and whoso findeth them, the same will have power that he may get the full account.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> And on this wise do I give the account. He that wrote this record was <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng Ether], and he was a descendant of Coriantor.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span>  柯林安多是摩龍的兒子。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> Coriantor was the son of Moron.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span>  摩龍是以但姆的兒子。</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>33</span> Which <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng Jared] came forth with his brother and their families, with some others and their families, from the great tower, at the time the Lord <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng confounded] the language of the people, and swore in his wrath that they should be scattered upon all the <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng face] of the earth; and according to the word of the Lord the people were scattered.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>34</span>  <sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=zho 雅列]的哥哥是個高大強壯的人，是個蒙主大恩的人，他弟弟雅列對他說：向主呼求，求祂不要混亂我們，免得我們聽不懂我們的話。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>34</span> And the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng brother] of Jared being a large and mighty man, and a man highly favored of the Lord, Jared, his brother, said unto him: Cry unto the Lord, that he will not confound us that we may not<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng understand] our words.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>35</span>  事情是這樣的，雅列的哥哥向主呼求，而主憐憫了雅列，因此沒有混亂雅列的語言；雅列和他哥哥沒有被混亂。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>35</span> And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did cry unto the Lord, and the Lord had compassion upon Jared; therefore he did not confound the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng language] of Jared; and Jared and his brother were not confounded.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>36</span>  那時雅列對他哥哥說：再向主呼求，或許祂會平息對我們朋友的怒氣，不混亂他們的語言。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>36</span> Then Jared said unto his brother: Cry again unto the Lord, and it may be that he will turn away his anger from them who are our<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng friends], that he confound not their language.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>37</span>  事情是這樣的，雅列的哥哥向主呼求，主也憐憫他們的朋友和他們朋友的家屬，於是他們沒有被混亂。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>37</span> And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did cry unto the Lord, and the Lord had compassion upon their friends and their families also, that they were not confounded.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>38</span>  事情是這樣的，雅列又對他哥哥說：去求問主，看祂是否要趕我們離開此地，如果祂要趕我們離開，問祂我們該去哪裡；說不定主會帶我們去一塊比世上所有土地都<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=zho 精選]的土地；果真如此，就讓我們忠於主，以蒙得那土地作為我們繼承的土地。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>38</span> And it came to pass that Jared spake again unto his brother, saying: Go and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng inquire] of the Lord whether he will drive us out of the land, and if he will drive us out of the land, cry unto him whither we shall go. And who knoweth but the Lord will carry us forth into a land which is <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng choice] above all the earth? And if it so be, let us be faithful unto the Lord, that we may receive it for our inheritance.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>39</span>  事情是這樣的，雅列的哥哥依照雅列的口所說的話，向主呼求。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>39</span> And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did cry unto the Lord according to that which had been spoken by the mouth of Jared.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>40</span>  事情是這樣的，主聽到雅列的哥哥呼求，並憐憫他，對他說：</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>40</span> And it came to pass that the Lord did hear the brother of Jared, and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng had] compassion upon him, and said unto him:</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>41</span>  去將你的牲口聚集起來，每一種類，公的和母的；也要將地上各類種子收集起來；集合你的<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=zho 家屬]，也要集合你弟弟雅列及他的家屬；也集合你的<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=zho 朋友]及他們的家屬，和雅列的朋友及他們的家屬。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>41</span> Go to and gather together thy <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng flocks], both male and female, of every kind; and also of the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng seed] of the earth of every kind; and<sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng thy] <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng families]; and also Jared thy brother and his family; and also thy <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng friends] and their families, and the friends of Jared and their families.</p>

And there will I meet thee, and I will go <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng before] thee into a land which is <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng choice]above all the lands of the earth.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>43</span>  我會在那裡祝福你和你的後裔，並為我自己的目的，使你的後裔、你弟弟的後裔以及與你們同行者的後裔興起，成為大族。整個地面上不會有任何民族，比我為自己而興起的你們後裔的民族更強大。我這樣待你，是因為你向我呼求了這麼久。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>43</span> And there will I bless thee and thy seed, and raise up unto me of thy seed, and of the seed of thy brother, and they who shall go with thee, a great nation. And <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng there] shall be none <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng greater] than the nation which I will raise up unto me of thy seed, upon all the face of the earth. And thus I will do unto thee because this long time ye have cried unto me.</p>
