<p class='english'>The Jaredites prepare for their journey to a promised land—It is a choice land whereon men must serve Christ or be swept off—The Lord talks to the brother of Jared for three hours—The Jaredites build barges—The Lord asks the brother of Jared to propose how the barges will be lighted.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> And they did also carry with them deseret, which, by interpretation, is a honey bee; and thus they did carry with them<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng swarms] of bees, and all manner of that which was upon the face of the land, <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng seeds] of every kind.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And the Lord would not suffer that they should stop beyond the sea in the wilderness, but he would that they should come forth even unto the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng land] of promise, which was choice above all other lands, which the Lord God had <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng preserved] for a righteous people.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng serve] him, the true and only God, or they should be <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng swept] off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>9</span>  我們可以知道神對於此地的法令是：這是應許地，擁有此地的民族都應事奉神，否則一旦祂十足的憤怒臨到他們，他們必被掃除。祂十足的憤怒會在他們惡貫滿盈時臨到他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng swept] off when the fulness of his<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng wrath] shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng ripened] in iniquity.</p>

And it is not until the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng fulness] of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng swept] off.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>11</span>  <sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=zho 外邦人]啊，此事傳給你們，好使你們知道神的法令──好使你們悔改，不繼續作惡到惡貫滿盈的地步，使你們不至於像以前這塊土地的居民那樣，為自己招來神十足的憤怒。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> And this cometh unto you, O ye <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng Gentiles], that ye may know the decrees of God—that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng wrath] of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng free] from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng serve] the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> And now I proceed with my record; for behold, it came to pass that the Lord did bring Jared and his brethren forth even to that great sea which divideth the lands. And as they came to the sea they pitched their tents; and they called the name of the place<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng Moriancumer]; and they dwelt in <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng tents], and dwelt in tents upon the seashore for the space of four years.</p>

And for the space of three hours did the Lord talk with the brother of Jared, and <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng chastened] him because he remembered not to <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng call] upon the name of the Lord.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And the brother of Jared repented of the evil which he had done, and did call upon the name of the Lord for his brethren who were with him. And the Lord said unto him: I will forgive thee and thy brethren of their sins; but thou shalt not sin any more, for ye shall remember that my <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng Spirit] will not always <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng strive] with man; wherefore, if ye will sin until ye are fully ripe ye shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord. And these are my <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng thoughts] upon the land which I shall give you for your inheritance; for it shall be a land <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng choice] above all other lands.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span>  主說：去工作，照你們以前造平底船的樣式造船。事情是這樣的，雅列的哥哥就和弟兄們遵照<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=zho 主]的指示工作，照他們以前造船的樣式造平底船。船都很小，在水面上很輕，就像水面的飛禽那樣輕。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And the Lord said: Go to work and build, after the manner of<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng barges] which ye have hitherto built. And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did go to work, and also his brethren, and built barges after the manner which they had built, according to the<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng instructions] of the Lord. And they were small, and they were light upon the water, even like unto the lightness of a fowl upon the water.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span>  船造得非常<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=zho 緊密]，甚至像盤子一樣可以盛水；船底緊密得像盤子，船舷也像盤子一般緊密；船的兩頭是尖的，船頂緊密如盤子；船身的長度是一棵樹的長度，艙門關閉時，如盤子一般緊密。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> And they were built after a manner that they were exceedingly<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng tight], even that they would hold water like unto a dish; and the bottom thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the sides thereof were tight like unto a dish; and the ends thereof were peaked; and the top thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the length thereof was the length of a tree; and the door thereof, when it was shut, was tight like unto a dish.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span>  事情是這樣的，雅列的哥哥向主呼求說：主啊，我已完成您命令我的事，也已遵照您的指示造了平底船。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> And it came to pass that the brother of Jared cried unto the Lord, saying: O Lord, I have performed the work which thou hast commanded me, and I have made the barges according as thou hast directed me.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span>  看啊，主啊，船裡都沒有光；我們該航向哪裡？而且我們會死，因為除了裡面的空氣外，我們在裡面無法呼吸；因此我們會死。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> And behold, O Lord, in them there is no light; whither shall we steer? And also we shall perish, for in them we cannot breathe, save it is the air which is in them; therefore we shall perish.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span>  主對雅列的哥哥說：看啊，你們應該在船頂開個洞，船底也開個洞；你們沒有空氣難受時，就打開洞口，放進空氣。如果水流進來淹到你們，看啊，你們就關閉洞口，這樣你們就不會死在洪水中。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> And the Lord said unto the brother of Jared: Behold, thou shalt make a hole in the top, and also in the bottom; and when thou shalt suffer for air thou shalt unstop the hole and receive air. And if it be so that the water come in upon thee, behold, ye shall stop the hole, that ye may not perish in the flood.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span>  事情是這樣的，雅列的哥哥就照主的命令做了。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> And it came to pass that the brother of Jared did so, according as the Lord had commanded.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span>  他又向主呼求說：主啊，我已完全照您命令我的做了；我已為我的人準備了船隻，看啊，船裡沒有光。看啊，主啊，您要我們在黑暗中渡過這大水嗎？</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> And he cried again unto the Lord saying: O Lord, behold I have done even as thou hast commanded me; and I have prepared the vessels for my people, and behold there is no light in them. Behold, O Lord, wilt thou suffer that we shall cross this great water in darkness?</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span>  主對雅列的哥哥說：你要我怎樣做使你的船裡有光呢？因為看啊，你不能有窗戶，因為窗戶會破碎；你也不能帶著火，因為你不能靠火光航行。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> And the Lord said unto the brother of Jared: What will ye that I should do that ye may have light in your vessels? For behold, ye cannot have <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng windows], for they will be dashed in pieces; neither shall ye take fire with you, for ye shall not go by the light of fire.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>24</span>  因為看啊，你將如海中的鯨，將有如山的巨浪衝撞你。然而，我仍會把你從海底再帶上來；因為<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=zho 風]出自我口，<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=zho 雨]和洪水也由我發出。</p>

Nevertheless, I will bring you up again out of the depths of the sea; for the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng winds] have gone forth <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng out] of my mouth, and also the <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng rains] and the floods have I sent forth.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span>  看啊，我使你預備好面對這些事；除非我使你預備好面對海上的狂風巨浪，以及將要來到的洪水，否則你就無法渡此大海。所以你要我怎樣為你準備，使你被吞入海底時仍有光呢？</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come. Therefore what will ye that I should prepare for you that ye may have light when ye are swallowed up in the depths of the sea?</p>
