<p class='english'>The kingdom passes from one to another by descent, intrigue, and murder—Emer saw the Son of Righteousness—Many prophets cry repentance—A famine and poisonous serpents plague the people.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And now I, Moroni, proceed with my record. Therefore, behold, it came to pass that because of the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng secret] combinations of Akish and his friends, behold, they did overthrow the kingdom of Omer.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> Nevertheless, the Lord was merciful unto Omer, and also to his sons and to his daughters who did not seek his destruction.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> And the Lord <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng warned] Omer in a dream that he should depart out of the land; wherefore Omer <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng departed] out of the land with his family, and traveled many days, and came over and passed by the hill of <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng Shim], and came over by the place <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng where] the Nephites were destroyed, and from thence eastward, and came to a place which was called Ablom, by the seashore, and there he pitched his tent, and also his sons and his daughters, and all his household, save it were Jared and his family.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>4</span>  事情是這樣的，由於邪惡，雅列被膏立為人民的國王，並將女兒許配給艾基士。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> And it came to pass that Jared was anointed king over the people, by the hand of wickedness; and he gave unto Akish his daughter to wife.</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>6</span>  這邪惡而祕密的團體蔓延極廣，以致腐化了全體人民的心；因此雅列在王座上被殺後，艾基士接替他統治。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> For so great had been the spreading of this wicked and secret society that it had corrupted the hearts of all the people; therefore Jared was murdered upon his throne, and Akish reigned in his stead.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span>  事情是這樣的，艾基士開始嫉妒他的兒子，因此把他關在牢裡，給他一點點食物，甚至不給他食物，直到他死去。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And it came to pass that Akish began to be <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng jealous] of his son, therefore he shut him up in prison, and kept him upon little or no food until he had suffered death.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span>  被餓死者的弟弟（他名叫寧拉）因父親如此對待他哥哥而惱怒父親。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> And now the brother of him that suffered death, (and his name was Nimrah) was angry with his father because of that which his father had done unto his brother.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> And it came to pass that Nimrah gathered together a small number of men, and fled out of the land, and came over and dwelt with Omer.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> And it came to pass that Akish begat other sons, and they won the hearts of the people, notwithstanding they had sworn unto him to do all manner of iniquity according to that which he desired.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> Now the people of Akish were desirous for gain, even as Akish was desirous for <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng power]; wherefore, the sons of Akish did offer them <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng money], by which means they drew away the more part of the people after them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>12</span>  於是艾基士的兒子們與艾基士之間爆發戰爭，一連打了好幾年，是的，整個王國的人民幾乎都毀滅了，是的，全部都毀滅了，只剩下三十個人，還有與俄梅珥家族一同逃走的人。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> And there began to be a war between the sons of Akish and Akish, which lasted for the space of many years, yea, unto the destruction of nearly all the people of the kingdom, yea, even all, save it were thirty souls, and they who fled with the house of Omer.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span>  因此俄梅珥又得回他繼承的土地。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> Wherefore, Omer was restored again to the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng land] of his inheritance.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span>  事情是這樣的，俄梅珥開始老了，然而他在晚年生了以茂，他膏立以茂為王，接替他統治。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> And it came to pass that Omer began to be old; nevertheless, in his old age he begat Emer; and he anointed Emer to be king to reign in his stead.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>15</span>  他膏立以茂為王之後，見到國內兩年的和平就去世了，他經歷了許多充滿憂傷的日子。事情是這樣的，以茂接替他統治，跟隨他父親的腳步。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And after that he had anointed Emer to be king he saw peace in the land for the space of two years, and he died, having seen exceedingly many days, which were full of sorrow. And it came to pass that Emer did reign in his stead, and did fill the steps of his father.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span>  主又開始除去那地的詛罰，以茂家族在以茂治理下非常昌盛；前後六十二年間，他們變得非常強盛，因而變得非常富有──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And the Lord began again to take the curse from off the land, and the house of Emer did prosper exceedingly under the reign of Emer; and in the space of sixty and two years they had become exceedingly strong, insomuch that they became exceedingly rich—</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span>  他們有各種水果、穀類、絲綢、細麻布、金子、銀子和寶物；</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> Having <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng all] manner of fruit, and of grain, and of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng silks], and of fine linen, and of <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng gold], and of silver, and of precious things;</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span>  也有各種牲畜，公牛、母牛、綿羊、豬、山羊，以及許多其他種可供人食用的動物。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> And also <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng all] manner of cattle, of oxen, and cows, and of sheep, and of swine, and of goats, and also many other kinds of animals which were useful for the food of man.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span>  他們也有<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 馬匹]、驢子，有大象、寇呂龍和寇莫姆；這些對人類都很有用，尤其是大象、寇呂龍和寇莫姆。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> And they also had <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng horses], and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span>  主就這樣傾福於這塊比其他所有土地都<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 精選]的土地，祂命令凡擁有此地的，必須為了主而擁有此地，否則他們惡貫滿盈時，必被<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 毀滅]；因為主說：我會將十足的憤怒傾倒在這樣的人身上。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> And thus the Lord did pour out his blessings upon this land, which was <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng choice] above all other lands; and he commanded that whoso should possess the land should possess it unto the Lord, or they should be <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng destroyed] when they were ripened in iniquity; for upon such, saith the Lord: I will pour out the fulness of my wrath.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span>  以茂在他所有的日子中都以正義執行審判，並育有許多子女；他生了柯林安德，他膏立柯林安德接替他統治。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> And Emer did execute judgment in righteousness all his days, and he begat many sons and daughters; and he begat Coriantum, and he anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span>  他膏立柯林安德接替他統治後，又活了四年，看到了當地的和平；是的，他還看見了<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 正義]之子，並因他的日子而深感快樂和榮耀；他平安地去世了。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> And after he had anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead he lived four years, and he saw peace in the land; yea, and he even saw the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng Son] of Righteousness, and did rejoice and glory in his day; and he died in peace.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span>  事情是這樣的，柯林安德遵循他父親的腳步，建立許多大城市，在他所有的日子中都造福人民。事情是這樣的，他到年邁時都還沒有子女。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> And it came to pass that Coriantum did walk in the steps of his father, and did build many mighty cities, and did administer that which was good unto his people in all his days. And it came to pass that he had no children even until he was exceedingly <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng old].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>24</span>  事情是這樣的，他妻子去世了，享年一百零二歲。事情是這樣的，柯林安德在晚年娶了一位年輕女子為妻，並育有子女；他一直活到一百四十二歲。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> And it came to pass that his wife died, being an hundred and two years old. And it came to pass that Coriantum took to wife, in his old age, a young maid, and begat sons and daughters; wherefore he lived until he was an hundred and forty and two years old.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span>  事情是這樣的，他生了柯睦，柯睦接替他統治，統治了四十九年；他生了赫，也育有其他子女。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> And it came to pass that he begat Com, and Com reigned in his stead; and he reigned forty and nine years, and he begat Heth; and he also begat other sons and daughters.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>26</span>  人民再度遍佈整個地面上，地面上又開始有了極大的邪惡，而赫也開始採納古代的密謀，想殺他父親。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>26</span> And the people had spread again over all the face of the land, and there began again to be an exceedingly great wickedness upon the face of the land, and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng Heth] began to embrace the secret plans again of old, to destroy his father.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>27</span>  事情是這樣的，他用自己的劍殺了父親，推翻他，並接替他統治。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>27</span> And it came to pass that he did dethrone his father, for he slew him with his own sword; and he did reign in his stead.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>28</span>  當地又來了許多先知，呼籲他們悔改──說他們必須預備主的道，否則必有詛罰臨到地面上，是的，必有大飢荒，他們若不悔改，必毀於這大飢荒。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>28</span> And there came prophets in the land <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng again], crying repentance unto them—that they must prepare the way of the Lord or there should come a curse upon the face of the land; yea, even there should be a great famine, in which they should be destroyed if they did not repent.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>29</span>  但是人民不相信先知的話，卻把他們趕走；他們還把其中幾位先知丟進坑裡，任他們死去。事情是這樣的，他們做這一切，是按照國王赫的命令。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>29</span> But the people believed not the words of the prophets, but they cast them out; and some of them they cast into <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng pits] and left them to perish. And it came to pass that they did all these things according to the commandment of the king, Heth.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>30</span>  事情是這樣的，當地發生大飢荒，因為地面上沒有雨水，居民開始因飢荒而迅速滅亡。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>30</span> And it came to pass that there began to be a great <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng dearth]upon the land, and the inhabitants began to be destroyed exceedingly fast because of the dearth, for there was no rain upon the face of the earth.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>31</span>  地面上也出現許多毒蛇，毒害很多人。事情是這樣的，他們的牲口為了逃避毒蛇，開始逃往南部地方，即尼腓人稱的<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 柴雷罕拉]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>31</span> And there came forth <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng poisonous] serpents also upon the face of the land, and did poison many people. And it came to pass that their flocks began to flee before the poisonous serpents, towards the land <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng southward], which was called by the Nephites<sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng Zarahemla].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>32</span>  事情是這樣的，有很多死在途中，不過，也有些逃進南部地方。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>32</span> And it came to pass that there were many of them which did perish by the way; nevertheless, there were some which fled into the land southward.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>33</span>  事情是這樣的，主讓<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 蛇]不再追牲口，但要攔在路上，不讓人民通過，凡是想通過的人，都會被毒蛇咬死。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>33</span> And it came to pass that the Lord did cause the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng serpents] that they should pursue them no more, but that they should hedge up the way that the people could not pass, that whoso should attempt to pass might fall by the poisonous serpents.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>34</span>  事情是這樣的，人民隨著野獸的蹤跡，吞食倒在途中牲畜的屍首，直到吃光為止。人民眼看自己死定了，就開始<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 悔改]他們的罪行，並向主呼求。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>34</span> And it came to pass that the people did follow the course of the beasts, and did devour the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng carcasses] of them which fell by the way, until they had devoured them all. Now when the people saw that they must <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng perish] they began to <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng repent] of their iniquities and cry unto the Lord.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>35</span>  事情是這樣的，他們在主前充分<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=zho 謙抑]自己時，祂就降雨水於地面上；人民開始復甦，北部各地及附近所有地區開始有了水果。主向他們顯大能，保全他們度過飢荒。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>35</span> And it came to pass that when they had <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/9?lang=eng humbled] themselves sufficiently before the Lord he did send rain upon the face of the earth; and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about. And the Lord did show forth his power unto them in preserving them from famine.</p>
