<p class='english'>Gideon seeks to slay King Noah—The Lamanites invade the land—King Noah suffers death by fire—Limhi rules as a tributary monarch. About 145–121 B.C.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>1</span>  事情是這樣的，國王的軍隊搜尋主的人民未果而返。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And it came to pass that the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng army] of the king returned, having searched in vain for the people of the Lord.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>2</span>  現在看啊，由於兵員減少，國王的兵力薄弱，其餘的人民也開始分裂。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> And now behold, the forces of the king were small, having been reduced, and there began to be a division among the remainder of the people.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> And the lesser part began to <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng breathe] out threatenings against the king, and there began to be a great contention among them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>4</span>  他們當中有一人名叫基甸，是個強壯的人，也是國王的敵人，因此他抽出劍來，在憤怒中誓言要殺死國王。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> And now there was a man among them whose name was Gideon, and he being a strong man and an enemy to the king, therefore he drew his sword, and swore in his wrath that he would slay the king.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>5</span> And it came to pass that he fought with the king; and when the king saw that he was about to overpower him, he fled and ran and got upon the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng tower] which was near the temple.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>6</span>  基甸緊追在後，正要到塔上殺國王的時候，國王舉目向歇隆地望去，看到拉曼軍已進了邊界。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> And Gideon pursued after him and was about to get upon the tower to slay the king, and the king cast his eyes round about towards the land of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng Shemlon], and behold, the army of the Lamanites were within the borders of the land.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span>  國王極為痛苦，大聲喊道：基甸，饒了我吧，因為拉曼人來攻打我們了，他們會消滅我們；是的，他們會消滅我的人民。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And now the king cried out in the anguish of his soul, saying: Gideon, <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng spare] me, for the Lamanites are upon us, and they will destroy us; yea, they will destroy my people.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span>  國王並不像關心自己的生命那樣關心他的人民，可是，基甸還是饒了他一命。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> And now the king was not so much concerned about his people as he was about his <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng own] life; nevertheless, Gideon did spare his life.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>9</span>  國王命令人民逃避拉曼人，他自己則走在他們前面，他們帶著婦女和小孩逃進曠野。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> And the king commanded the people that they should flee before the Lamanites, and he himself did go before them, and they did flee into the wilderness, with their women and their children.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>10</span>  事情是這樣的，拉曼人緊追不捨，終於趕上他們，開始殺他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> And it came to pass that the Lamanites did pursue them, and did overtake them, and began to slay them.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> Now it came to pass that the king commanded them that all the men should <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng leave] their wives and their children, and flee before the Lamanites.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>12</span>  許多人不願丟下他們，情願留下來，與他們一起死。其他的人則丟下他們的妻子和他們的兒女逃走。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> Now there were many that would not leave them, but had rather stay and perish with them. And the rest left their wives and their children and fled.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span>  事情是這樣的，那些與他們的妻子和他們的兒女一起留下來的人叫他們美麗的女兒站出來，求拉曼人不要殺他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> And it came to pass that those who tarried with their wives and their children caused that their fair daughters should stand forth and plead with the Lamanites that they would not slay them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span>  事情是這樣的，拉曼人為這些婦女的美貌所迷，對他們動了憐憫之心。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> And it came to pass that the Lamanites had compassion on them, for they were charmed with the beauty of their women.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> Therefore the Lamanites did spare their lives, and took them captives and carried them back to the land of Nephi, and granted unto them that they might possess the land, under the conditions that they would deliver up king Noah into the hands of the Lamanites, and deliver up their property, even <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng one] half of all they possessed, one half of their gold, and their silver, and all their precious things, and thus they should pay tribute to the king of the Lamanites from year to year.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span>  被擄的人當中，有一個是王的兒子，名叫<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=zho 林海]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And now there was one of the sons of the king among those that were taken captive, whose name was <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng Limhi].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span>  林海希望他的父親不被殺掉，但他是個義人，不是不知道父親的罪行。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> And now Limhi was desirous that his father should not be destroyed; nevertheless, Limhi was not ignorant of the iniquities of his father, he himself being a just man.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> And it came to pass that Gideon sent men into the wilderness secretly, to search for the king and those that were with him. And it came to pass that they met the people in the wilderness, all save the king and his priests.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> And the king commanded them that they should not return; and they were angry with the king, and caused that he should suffer, even unto <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng death] by fire.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span>  他們正想把祭司們也抓起來處死的時候，他們逃走了。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> And they were about to take the priests also and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng put] them to death, and they fled before them.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> And it came to pass that they were about to return to the land of Nephi, and they met the men of Gideon. And the men of Gideon told them of all that had happened to their wives and their children; and that the Lamanites had granted unto them that they might possess the land by paying a tribute to the Lamanites of one half of all they possessed.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span>  他們告訴基甸的人，他們已把國王殺了，他的祭司則逃得遠遠的，進入了曠野。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> And the people told the men of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng Gideon] that they had slain the king, and his <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng priests] had fled from them farther into the wilderness.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> And it came to pass that after they had ended the ceremony, that they returned to the land of Nephi, rejoicing, because their wives and their children were not slain; and they told Gideon what they had done to the king.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>26</span> And also Limhi, being the son of the king, having the kingdom conferred upon him <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng by] the people, made <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng oath] unto the king of the Lamanites that his people should pay <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng tribute] unto him, even one half of all they possessed.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>27</span>  事情是這樣的，林海開始建國，開始在人民中建立和平。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>27</span> And it came to pass that Limhi began to establish the kingdom and to establish <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng peace] among his people.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>28</span>  拉曼人的國王在周圍佈哨，好把林海的人民留在那地，免得他們離開，進入曠野；他用尼腓人所納的貢物來給養哨兵。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>28</span> And the king of the Lamanites set <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng guards] round about the land, that he might <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/19?lang=eng keep] the people of Limhi in the land, that they might not depart into the wilderness; and he did support his guards out of the tribute which he did receive from the Nephites.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>29</span>  林海王的國境內有持續兩年的和平，拉曼人沒有騷擾他們，也沒有企圖消滅他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>29</span> And now king Limhi did have continual peace in his kingdom for the space of two years, that the Lamanites did not molest them nor seek to destroy them.</p>
