<p class='english'>Ammon teaches the people of Limhi—He learns of the twenty-four Jaredite plates—Ancient records can be translated by seers—No gift is greater than seership. About 121 B.C.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>1</span>  事情是這樣的，林海王對人民講完了話，就告訴他們所有關於柴雷罕拉地弟兄們的事。他對他們講了許多事，我在這本書上只寫了一小部分。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And it came to pass that after king Limhi had made an end of<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng speaking] to his people, for he spake many things unto them and only a few of them have I written in this book, he told his people all the things concerning their brethren who were in the land of Zarahemla.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> And he caused that Ammon should stand up before the multitude, and rehearse unto them all that had happened unto their brethren from the time that <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng Zeniff] went up out of the land even until the time that he <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng himself] came up out of the land.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>3</span>  他也講述了便雅憫王教導人民的最後一番話，並解釋給林海王的人民聽，使他們能明白他所說的每句話。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> And he also rehearsed unto them the last words which king Benjamin had <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng taught] them, and explained them to the people of king Limhi, so that they might understand all the words which he spake.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>4</span>  事情是這樣的，他做完這些事，林海王就解散了群眾，要他們各自回自己的家去。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> And it came to pass that after he had done all this, that king Limhi dismissed the multitude, and caused that they should return every one unto his own house.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>5</span> And it came to pass that he caused that the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng plates] which contained the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng record] of his people from the time that they left the<sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng land] of Zarahemla, should be brought before Ammon, that he might read them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>6</span>  艾蒙一讀完紀錄，王就問他，想知道他會不會翻譯語文，艾蒙告訴他，他不會。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> Now, as soon as Ammon had read the record, the king inquired of him to know if he could <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng interpret] languages, and Ammon told him that he could not.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span>  王對他說：我因人民所受的折磨而痛苦，便差遣了四十三個人啟程到曠野去，尋找柴雷罕拉地，好向我們的弟兄求援，救我們脫離束縛。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And the king said unto him: Being grieved for the afflictions of my people, I caused that <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng forty] and three of my people should take a journey into the wilderness, that thereby they might find the land of Zarahemla, that we might appeal unto our brethren to deliver us out of bondage.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span>  他們在曠野中迷途多日，雖然他們很努力，但沒找到柴雷罕拉地，只好返回這地。他們途經一個水流密佈的地方，發現一個遍地都是人獸的枯骨及各種廢墟的地方，他們發現了一個曾有像以色列人那樣多的人住過的地方。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> And they were lost in the wilderness for the space of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng many]days, yet they were diligent, and found not the land of Zarahemla but returned to this land, having traveled in a land among many waters, having discovered a land which was covered with <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng bones] of men, and of beasts, and was also covered with ruins of buildings of every kind, having discovered a land which had been peopled with a people who were as numerous as the hosts of Israel.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>9</span>  為了證明他們所說的事是真的，他們帶回來<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=zho 二十四]片用純金造的，刻滿鐫文的頁片。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>9</span> And for a testimony that the things that they had said are true they have brought <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng twenty]-four plates which are filled with engravings, and they are of pure gold.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>10</span>  看啊，他們也帶回一些完好無損的大<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=zho 胸]甲，是用<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=zho 銅]和黃銅造的。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> And behold, also, they have brought <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng breastplates], which are large, and they are of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng brass] and of copper, and are perfectly sound.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>11</span>  此外，他們也帶回一些劍，劍柄沒了，劍身也銹壞了；這地沒有一個人會翻譯頁片上的語文或鐫文。所以我才問你：你會不會翻譯？</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> And again, they have brought swords, the hilts thereof have perished, and the blades thereof were cankered with rust; and there is no one in the land that is able to interpret the language or the engravings that are on the plates. Therefore I said unto thee: Canst thou translate?</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>12</span>  我再問你：你知道誰會翻譯？因為我希望這些紀錄能譯成我們的語文，或許，我們能知道這被毀滅的民族的遺裔的事，這紀錄就是從他們那裡來的；或者，我們能知道被毀滅的這個民族的事；我很想知道他們滅亡的原因。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> And I say unto thee again: Knowest thou of any one that can translate? For I am desirous that these records should be translated into our language; for, perhaps, they will give us a knowledge of a remnant of the people who have been destroyed, from whence these records came; or, perhaps, they will give us a knowledge of this very people who have been destroyed; and I am desirous to know the cause of their destruction.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> Now Ammon said unto him: I can assuredly tell thee, O king, of a man that can <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng translate] the records; for he has wherewith that he can look, and translate all records that are of ancient date; and it is a gift from God. And the things are called <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng interpreters], and no man can look in them except he be commanded, lest he should look for that he ought not and he should perish. And whosoever is commanded to look in them, the same is called <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng seer].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span>  看啊，柴雷罕拉地的人民的國王就是那位奉命做這些事的人，他有這項來自神的偉大恩賜。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> And behold, the king of the people who are in the land of Zarahemla is the man that is commanded to do these things, and who has this high gift from God.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>15</span>  國王說，先見大於先知。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And the king said that a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng seer] is greater than a prophet.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span>  艾蒙說，先見是啟示者，也是先知；沒有人能有更大的恩賜，除非他擁有神的大能，而那是沒有人能擁有的；然而人可以蒙神賜予極大的能力。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And Ammon said that a seer is a revelator and a prophet also; and a gift which is greater can no man have, except he should possess the power of God, which no man can; yet a man may have great power given him from God.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span>  先見可以知道過去的事以及未來的事。萬事都要由譯具顯示，或者說，譯具會彰顯祕密的事，將隱藏的事帶到光明，透露人所不知道的事，並且顯明人用其他方法都無法知道的事。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> But a seer can know of things which are past, and also of things which are to come, and by them shall all things be revealed, or, rather, shall secret things be made manifest, and hidden things shall come to light, and things which are not known shall be made known by them, and also things shall be made known by them which otherwise could not be known.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span>  神就預備了這個方法，使人能經由信心行大奇蹟，因而成為同胞的一大福祉。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> Thus God has provided a means that man, through faith, might work mighty miracles; therefore he becometh a great benefit to his fellow beings.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span>  艾蒙說完了這些話，國王非常高興，就感謝神說：這些頁片無疑包含著<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=zho 偉大]的奧祕，這譯具無疑是為向人類兒女揭開所有這些奧祕而預備的。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> And now, when Ammon had made an end of speaking these words the king rejoiced exceedingly, and gave thanks to God, saying: Doubtless a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng great] mystery is contained within these plates, and these interpreters were doubtless prepared for the purpose of unfolding all such mysteries to the children of men.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span>  主的事工何其奇妙，祂對人民的容忍何其久長；是的，人類兒女的理解力是多麼盲目閉塞；他們不尋求智慧，也不願受智慧的約束。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> O how marvelous are the works of the Lord, and how long doth he suffer with his people; yea, and how <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/8?lang=eng blind] and impenetrable are the understandings of the children of men; for they will not seek wisdom, neither do they desire that she should rule over them!</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span>  是的，他們像一群逃離牧羊人的野羊，分散各處，並被森林裡的野獸追趕、吞食。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> Yea, they are as a wild flock which fleeth from the shepherd, and scattereth, and are driven, and are devoured by the beasts of the forest.</p>
