<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>4</span> 他又向人民作證說，到末日全人類都必得救，他們不必害怕也不用顫抖，卻可抬起頭來快樂，因為主創造了所有的人，也救贖了所有的人；到最後，所有的人都必獲得永生。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> And he also testified unto the people that <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng all] mankind should be saved at the last day, and that they <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng need] not fear nor tremble, but that they might lift up their heads and rejoice; for the Lord had <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng created] all men, and had also <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng redeemed] <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng all] men; and, in the end, all men should have eternal life.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And it came to pass as he was going, to preach to those who believed on his word, he met a man who belonged to the church of God, yea, even one of their <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng teachers]; and he began to contend with him sharply, that he might lead away the people of the church; but the man withstood him, admonishing him with the<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng words] of God.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span> 那個人名叫<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/8a 基甸]；他曾是神手中的工具，解救林海的人民脫離束縛。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> Now the name of the man was <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng Gideon]; and it was he who was an instrument in the hands of God in delivering the people of Limhi out of bondage.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> And the man who slew him was taken by the people of the church, and was brought before Alma, to be <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng judged] according to the crimes which he had committed.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> And it came to pass that he stood before Alma and pled for himself with much boldness.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> But Alma said unto him: Behold, this is the first time that<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng priestcraft] has been introduced among this people. And behold, thou art not only guilty of priestcraft, but hast endeavored to enforce it by the sword; and were <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng priestcraft] to be enforced among this people it would prove their entire destruction.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span> 你流了一位義人的血，是的，一位在人民當中行許多善事的人的血，我們若饒恕你，他的血必臨到我們，向我們<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/13a 報復]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> And thou hast shed the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng blood] of a righteous man, yea, a man who has done much good among this people; and were we to spare thee his blood would come upon us for <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng vengeance].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span> 因此，按照我們最後一位國王摩賽亞賜予的法律，你被判死刑；這法律是人民公認的，所以人民必須<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/14a 遵守]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> Therefore thou art condemned to <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng die], according to the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng law]which has been given us by Mosiah, our last king; and it has been<sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng acknowledged] by this people; therefore this people must <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng abide]by the law.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And it came to pass that they took him; and his name was<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng Nehor]; and they carried him upon the top of the hill Manti, and there he was caused, or rather did acknowledge, between the heavens and the earth, that what he had taught to the people was contrary to the word of God; and there he suffered an ignominious <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng death].</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> Nevertheless, this did not put an end to the spreading of priestcraft through the land; for there were many who loved the vain things of the world, and they went forth preaching <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng false]doctrines; and this they did for the sake of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng riches] and honor.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> Nevertheless, they durst not <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng lie], if it were known, for fear of the law, for liars were punished; therefore they pretended to preach according to their belief; and now the law could have no power on any man for <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng his] belief.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span> 他們不敢<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/18a 偷竊]，怕法律制裁，因為偷竊者會受罰；他們不敢搶奪，也不敢殺人，因為<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/18b 殺人者]必被<sup class='chineseSup'>ｃ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/18c 處死]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> And they durst not <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng steal], for fear of the law, for such were punished; neither durst they rob, nor murder, for he that<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng murdered] was punished unto <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng death].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span> 但是事情是這樣的，不屬於神教會的人開始迫害屬於神教會並承受基督之名的人。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> But it came to pass that whosoever did not belong to the church of God began to persecute those that did belong to the church of God, and had taken upon them the name of Christ.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> Yea, they did persecute them, and afflict them with all manner of words, and this because of their humility; because they were not proud in their own eyes, and because they did impart the word of God, one with another, without <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng money] and without price.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span> 教會的人民中，有一條嚴格的法律，規定每一個屬於教會的人都不得<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/21a 迫害]不屬於教會的人，他們之間也不得彼此迫害。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> Now there was a strict law among the people of the church, that there should <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng not] any man, belonging to the church, arise and persecute those that did not belong to the church, and that there should be no persecution among themselves.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span> 但是，他們有很多人開始驕傲起來，開始與敵人激辯，甚至動武；是的，用拳頭互毆。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> Nevertheless, there were many among them who began to be proud, and began to contend warmly with their adversaries, even unto blows; yea, they would smite one another with their <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng fists].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span> 這事發生於阿爾瑪統治的第二年間，是教友遭遇許多苦難的原因；是的，是教友遭受許多考驗的原因。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> Now this was in the second year of the reign of Alma, and it was a cause of much affliction to the church; yea, it was the cause of much trial with the church.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> For the hearts of many were hardened, and their names were<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng blotted] out, that they were remembered no more among the people of God. And also many <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng withdrew] themselves from among them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span> 這對信心堅定的人而言是一大考驗；然而，他們穩固不移，遵守神的誡命，<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/25a 耐心]忍受加諸他們身上的迫害。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith; nevertheless, they were <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng steadfast] and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng patience]the persecution which was heaped upon them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>26</span> 祭司們放下<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/26a 工作]傳講神的話，人民也放下工作來聽神的話。祭司向他們傳講了神的話以後，大家再回去勤奮工作；祭司不認為自己高於聽講的人，因為傳道的人並不優於聽道的人，教導的人也不優於學習的人；大家一律平等，大家都<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/26b 各]按能力來工作。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>26</span> And when the priests left their <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng labor] to impart the word of God unto the people, the people also left their labors to hear the word of God. And when the priest had imparted unto them the word of God they all returned again diligently unto their labors; and the priest, not esteeming himself above his hearers, for the preacher was no better than the hearer, neither was the teacher any better than the learner; and thus they were all equal, and they did all labor, every man <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng according] to his strength.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>27</span> 人人按其所有，將物資<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/27a 分給]<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/1/27b 窮苦]、貧困、患病和受苦的人；他們不穿昂貴的衣服，但是穿得整潔、美觀。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>27</span> And they did <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng impart] of their substance, every man according to that which he had, to the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng poor], and the needy, and the sick, and the afflicted; and they did not wear costly <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/1?lang=eng apparel], yet they were neat and comely.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>28</span> 他們就這樣建立了教會的事務；儘管受著種種迫害，他們還是開始有了持續的和平。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>28</span> And thus they did establish the affairs of the church; and thus they began to have continual peace again, notwithstanding all their persecutions.</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>33</span> 事情是這樣的，藉著這樣執行法律，各人都按其所行受罰；他們才比較沒有動靜，不敢犯罪，怕人知道；因此直到法官統治的第五年以前，尼腓人中都很和平。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>33</span> And it came to pass that by thus exercising the law upon them, every man suffering according to that which he had done, they became more still, and durst not commit any wickedness if it were known; therefore, there was much peace among the people of Nephi until the fifth year of the reign of the judges.</p>
