<p class='english'>The Lamanites come against the people of God—The Anti-Nephi-Lehies rejoice in Christ and are visited by angels—They choose to suffer death rather than to defend themselves—More Lamanites are converted. About 90–77 B.C.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>1</span> And it came to pass that the Amalekites and the Amulonites and the Lamanites who were in the land of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng Amulon], and also in the land of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng Helam], and who were in the land of <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng Jerusalem], and in fine, in all the land round about, who had not been converted and had not taken upon them the name of <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng Anti]-Nephi-Lehi, were stirred up by the Amalekites and by the Amulonites to anger against their brethren.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> And their hatred became exceedingly sore against them, even insomuch that they began to rebel against their king, insomuch that they would not that he should be their king; therefore, they took up arms against the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> Now the king conferred the kingdom upon his son, and he called his name Anti-Nephi-Lehi.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> And the king died in that selfsame year that the Lamanites began to make preparations for war against the people of God.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>5</span> Now when Ammon and his brethren and all those who had come up with him saw the preparations of the Lamanites to destroy their brethren, they came forth to the land of Midian, and there Ammon met all his brethren; and from thence they came to the land of Ishmael that they might hold a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng council] with Lamoni and also with his brother Anti-Nephi-Lehi, what they should do to defend themselves against the Lamanites.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>6</span> 可是沒有一個歸信主的人肯拿起武器攻擊自己的弟兄；他們甚至不願意為戰爭作任何準備；是的，他們的國王也命令他們不能這麼做。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> Now there was not one soul among all the people who had been converted unto the Lord that would take up arms against their brethren; nay, they would not even make any preparations for war; yea, and also their king commanded them that they should not.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span> 他就此事向人民講了這樣的話：我心愛的人民，我感謝我的神，感謝我們偉大的神仁慈地差這幾位尼腓弟兄到我們這裡來，向我們傳道，使我們認清來自我們邪惡祖先的<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/7a 傳統]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> Now, these are the words which he said unto the people concerning the matter: I thank my God, my beloved people, that our great God has in goodness sent these our brethren, the Nephites, unto us to preach unto us, and to convince us of the<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng traditions] of our wicked fathers.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span> 看啊，我感謝我偉大的神將祂部分的靈賜給我們，軟化我們的心，使我們開放與這些尼腓弟兄往來。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> And behold, I thank my great God that he has given us a portion of his Spirit to soften our hearts, that we have <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng opened] a correspondence with these brethren, the Nephites.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> And I also thank my God, yea, my great God, that he hath granted unto us that we might repent of these things, and also that he hath <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng forgiven] us of those our many sins and murders which we have committed, and taken away the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng guilt] from our hearts, through the merits of his Son.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>11</span> 現在看啊，弟兄們，既然我們所能做的（我們曾是全人類中最敗壞的一群）就是悔改我們的罪和所犯的許多殺人罪，讓神從我們心中<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/11a 除去]這些罪，因為我們所能做的就是在神前充分悔改，讓祂除去我們的污點──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>11</span> And now behold, my brethren, since it has been all that we could do (as we were the most lost of all mankind) to repent of all our sins and the many murders which we have committed, and to get God to <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng take] them away from our hearts, for it was all we could do to repent sufficiently before God that he would take away our stain—</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>12</span> 我最心愛的弟兄們，既然神除去了我們的污點，我們的劍也變得光亮，我們就不要再讓劍沾染我們弟兄的血了。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>12</span> Now, my best beloved brethren, since God hath taken away our stains, and our swords have become bright, then let us stain our swords no more with the blood of our brethren.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span> 看啊，我告訴你們，不要；讓我們保有我們的劍，別讓劍沾染我們弟兄的血；因為，我們的劍若再沾污，或許就再也無法由我們偉大之神的兒子的血<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/13a 洗淨]光亮；祂的血將為救贖我們的罪而流。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> Behold, I say unto you, Nay, let us retain our swords that they be not stained with the blood of our brethren; for perhaps, if we should stain our swords <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng again] they can no more be <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng washed]bright through the blood of the Son of our great God, which shall be shed for the atonement of our sins.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> And the great God has had mercy on us, and made these things known unto us that we might not perish; yea, and he has made these things known unto us beforehand, because he loveth our <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng souls] as well as he loveth our children; therefore, in his mercy he doth visit us by his angels, that the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng plan] of salvation might be made known unto us as well as unto future generations.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>15</span> 我們的神何其慈悲！現在看啊，既然我們所能做的是使我們的污點除去，使我們的劍光亮，我們就把劍藏起來，保持劍的光亮，在末日，或在我們被帶去站在神前受審那日，向神證明自從祂把話傳給我們，使我們潔淨後，我們沒有再讓劍沾染弟兄的血。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> Oh, how merciful is our God! And now behold, since it has been as much as we could do to get our stains taken away from us, and our swords are made bright, let us <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng hide] them away that they may be kept bright, as a testimony to our God at the last day, or at the day that we shall be brought to stand before him to be judged, that we have not stained our swords in the blood of our brethren since he imparted his word unto us and has made us<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng clean] thereby.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span> 弟兄們，現在就算我們的弟兄企圖毀滅我們，看啊，我們也要把劍藏起來，是的，我們甚至要把劍深深埋在土裡，使之保持光亮，好在末日證明我們並未再使用過；假如我們的弟兄毀滅我們，看啊，我們必<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/16a 到]神那裡，並且必得救。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And now, my brethren, if our brethren seek to destroy us, behold, we will hide away our swords, yea, even we will bury them deep in the earth, that they may be kept bright, as a testimony that we have never used them, at the last day; and if our brethren destroy us, behold, we shall <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng go] to our God and shall be saved.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span> 事情是這樣的，國王講完這些話後，全體人民都聚在一起，把他們的劍和所有用來流人血的武器，深深<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/17a 埋]在土裡。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> And now it came to pass that when the king had made an end of these sayings, and all the people were assembled together, they took their swords, and all the weapons which were used for the shedding of man’s blood, and they did <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng bury] them up deep in the earth.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span> 他們認為這麼做是向神和向人證明，他們<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/18a 絕不會]再用武器來流人血；他們這麼做，是向神證明並與神<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/18b 立約]，他們寧可<sup class='chineseSup'>ｃ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/18c 捨棄]性命，也不願流弟兄的血；寧可施與弟兄，也不願向弟兄奪取；寧可雙手勤奮工作，也不願懶惰度日。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> And this they did, it being in their view a testimony to God, and also to men, that they <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng never] would use weapons again for the shedding of man’s blood; and this they did, vouching and<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng covenanting] with God, that rather than shed the blood of their brethren they would <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng give] up their own lives; and rather than take away from a brother they would give unto him; and rather than spend their days in idleness they would labor abundantly with their hands.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span> 由此可知，這些拉曼人相信並知道真理後，非常<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/19a 堅定]，寧死也不犯罪；我們看到他們埋藏了和平武器，或者說，他們為了和平，把作戰的武器埋藏起來。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> And thus we see that, when these Lamanites were brought to<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng believe] and to know the truth, they were <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng firm], and would suffer even unto death rather than commit sin; and thus we see that they buried their weapons of peace, or they buried the weapons of war, for peace.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span> 事情是這樣的，他們的弟兄拉曼人準備好作戰後，就上尼腓地來，意圖毀滅國王，另立他人取代，並想將安太尼腓李海人自此地滅絕。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> And it came to pass that their brethren, the Lamanites, made preparations for war, and came up to the land of Nephi for the purpose of destroying the king, and to place <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng another] in his stead, and also of destroying the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi out of the land.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span> 人民看到他們前來攻打，就出去迎接，<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/21a 俯伏]在他們面前，開始呼求主的名；拉曼人開始攻擊他們，用劍殺他們時，他們就採取這種態度。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> Now when the people saw that they were coming against them they went out to meet them, and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng prostrated] themselves before them to the earth, and began to call on the name of the Lord; and thus they were in this attitude when the Lamanites began to fall upon them, and began to slay them with the sword.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span> 於是拉曼人沒有遇到任何反抗，殺了他們一千零五人；而我們知道他們有福了，因為他們已經去跟他們的神同住了。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> And thus without meeting any resistance, they did slay a<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng thousand] and five of them; and we know that they are blessed, for they have gone to dwell with their God.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span> 這時拉曼人看到他們的弟兄不避刀劍，不左右閃躲，寧可倒下<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/23a 受]死，甚至死於劍下之際還讚美神──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> Now when the Lamanites saw that their brethren would not flee from the sword, neither would they turn aside to the right hand or to the left, but that they would lie down and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng perish], and<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng praised] God even in the very act of perishing under the sword—</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>24</span> 拉曼人看了這種情形，就<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/24a 停住]不再殺害他們；很多人的心因那些死在劍下的弟兄而<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/24b 腫脹]，因為他們後悔自己所做的事。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> Now when the Lamanites saw this they did <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng forbear] from slaying them; and there were many whose hearts had <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng swollen] in them for those of their brethren who had fallen under the sword, for they repented of the things which they had done.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span> 事情是這樣的，他們丟棄作戰的武器，不再使用，並且因自己所犯的殺人罪而痛苦；他們甚至像他們的弟兄那樣伏下，依靠那些舉手要殺他們的人的憐憫。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> And it came to pass that they threw down their weapons of war, and they would not take them again, for they were stung for the murders which they had committed; and they came down even as their brethren, relying upon the mercies of those whose arms were lifted to slay them.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>26</span> 事情是這樣的，那天加入神的人民的，比被殺的還要多；被殺的人都是正義的人，所以他們都已<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/26a 得救]，我們沒有理由懷疑。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>26</span> And it came to pass that the people of God were joined that day by more than the number who had been slain; and those who had been slain were righteous people, therefore we have no reason to doubt but what they were <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng saved].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>27</span> 他們之中沒有一個惡人被殺，反而有一千多人認識了真理；由此可知，主用許多<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/27a 方式]促成祂人民的救恩。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>27</span> And there was not a wicked man slain among them; but there were more than a thousand brought to the knowledge of the truth; thus we see that the Lord worketh in many <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng ways] to the salvation of his people.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>28</span> Now the greatest number of those of the Lamanites who slew so many of their brethren were Amalekites and Amulonites, the greatest number of whom were after the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng order] of the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng Nehors].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>29</span> 加入主的人民的，<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/24/29a 沒有]一個是亞瑪力人或艾繆倫人，也沒有一個是屬於尼賀教派的，他們都是拉曼和雷米爾的真正後代。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>29</span> Now, among those who joined the people of the Lord, there were <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng none] who were Amalekites or Amulonites, or who were of the order of Nehor, but they were actual descendants of Laman and Lemuel.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>30</span> And thus we can plainly discern, that after a people have been once <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng enlightened] by the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng Spirit] of God, and have had great<sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng knowledge] of things pertaining to righteousness, and then have<sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng fallen] away into sin and transgression, they become more<sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng hardened], and thus their state becomes <sup class='englishSup'>f</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/24?lang=eng worse] than though they had never known these things.</p>
