for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it should destroy the work of justice. Now the work of justice could not be destroyed; if so, God would <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng cease] to be God.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span> 由此可知,全人類都已<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/14a 墜落],並且都在<sup class='chineseSup'>b</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/14b 公道]的掌握中;是的,神的公道判定他們永遠被剪除,與祂隔絕。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> And thus we see that all mankind were <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng fallen], and they were in the grasp of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng justice]; yea, the justice of God, which consigned them forever to be cut off from his presence.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>15</span> 除非完成贖罪,否則慈悲的計畫就無法完成;所以神親自<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/15a 贖]了世人的罪,以促成<sup class='chineseSup'>b</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/15b 慈悲]的計畫,滿足了<sup class='chineseSup'>c</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/15c 公道]的要求,使神成為<sup class='chineseSup'>d</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/15d 完全]、公正又慈悲的神。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an atonement should be made; therefore God himself <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng atoneth]for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng mercy], to appease the demands of <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng justice], that God might be a <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng perfect], just God, and a <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng merciful] God also.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span> 然而,除非有懲罰,否則悔改就不能臨到世人,那懲罰與靈魂的生命一樣<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/16a 永恆],而且與幸福的計畫對立,幸福的計畫也是與靈魂的生命一樣永恆的。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> Now, repentance could not come unto men except there were a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng punishment], which also was <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng eternal] as the life of the soul should be, affixed <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng opposite] to the plan of happiness, which was as <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng eternal] also as the life of the soul.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>17</span> 若不<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/17a 犯罪],人怎能悔改?若無<sup class='chineseSup'>b</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/17b 律法],人怎能犯罪?若無懲罰,怎能有律法?</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>17</span> Now, how could a man repent except he should <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng sin]? How could he sin if there was no <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng law]? How could there be a law save there was a punishment?</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span> 懲罰已附上,公道的律法已頒佈,因而將<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/18a 良心]的責備帶給世人。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> Now, there was a punishment affixed, and a just law given, which brought remorse of <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng conscience] unto man.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span> 若不頒佈律法──<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/19a 殺人者]死──人會害怕殺了人要償命嗎?</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> Now, if there was no law given—if a man <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng murdered] he should<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng die]—would he be afraid he would die if he should murder?</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span> 而且,若不頒佈治罪的律法,世人就不怕犯罪。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> And also, if there was no law given against sin men would not be afraid to sin.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>21</span> <sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/21a 若]不頒佈律法,世人一旦犯罪,公道能怎樣?慈悲又能怎樣?因為兩者都無權要求得到世人。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> And if there was <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng no] law given, if men sinned what could justice do, or mercy either, for they would have no claim upon the creature?</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span> 但是律法已頒佈,懲罰已附上,<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/22a 悔改]已賜予;那悔改是慈悲要求的,否則公道就有權要求對世人執法,執法的結果就是懲罰;要不然,公道的工作就被破壞,神也不再是神了。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> But there is a law given, and a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng punishment] affixed, and a<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng repentance] granted; which repentance, mercy claimeth; otherwise, justice claimeth the creature and executeth the <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng law], and the law inflicteth the punishment; if not so, the works of justice would be destroyed, and God would cease to be God.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span> 但是神還是神,<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/23a 慈悲]要求赦免悔改的人,慈悲因<sup class='chineseSup'>b</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/23b 贖罪]而來;贖罪促成死人的<sup class='chineseSup'>c</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/23c 復活],而死人的復活將世人<sup class='chineseSup'>d</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/23d 帶回]神的面前;世人就這樣回到神的面前,根據律法和公道,按照他們的行為接受<sup class='chineseSup'>e</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/23e 審判]。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> But God ceaseth not to be God, and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng mercy] claimeth the penitent, and mercy cometh because of the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng atonement]; and the atonement bringeth to pass the <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng resurrection] of the dead; and the<sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng resurrection] of the dead bringeth <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng back] men into the presence of God; and thus they are restored into his presence, to be <sup class='englishSup'>f</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng judged]according to their works, according to the law and justice.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>24</span> 看啊,公道提出他的一切要求,慈悲也要求一切屬於她的;所以,唯有真正悔改的人才能得救。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> For behold, justice exerciseth all his demands, and also<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng mercy] claimeth all which is her own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved.</p> <p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span> 你以為慈悲能剝奪<sup class='chineseSup'>a</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/42/25a 公道]嗎?我告訴你,不能,一點也不能。如果能,神就不再是神了。</p> <p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> What, do ye suppose that <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng mercy] can rob <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng justice]? I say unto you, Nay; not one whit.
