<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>5</span> And they had been led by the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng flatteries] of Amalickiah, that if they would support him and establish him to be their king that he would make them rulers over the people.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> And there were many in the church who believed in the<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng flattering] words of Amalickiah, therefore they <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng dissented] even from the church; and thus were the affairs of the people of Nephi exceedingly precarious and dangerous, notwithstanding their great <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng victory] which they had had over the Lamanites, and their great rejoicings which they had had because of their <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng deliverance]by the hand of the Lord.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>8</span> 由此可知，人類兒女是多麼<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/8a 快]就忘記主他們的神，是的，多麼快就為非作歹，被邪惡者誘離。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>8</span> Thus we see how <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng quick] the children of men do <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng forget] the Lord their God, yea, how quick to do <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng iniquity], and to be led away by the evil one.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>10</span> Yea, we see that Amalickiah, because he was a man of cunning device and a man of many flattering words, that he led away the hearts of many people to do wickedly; yea, and to seek to <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng destroy] the church of God, and to destroy the foundation of<sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng liberty] which God had granted unto them, or which blessing God had sent upon the face of the land for the <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng righteous]’ sake.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>11</span> 事情是這樣的，尼腓軍的<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/11a 統帥]摩羅乃聽到這些叛亂的消息，非常惱怒亞瑪利凱。</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>13</span> 他戴上頭盔、穿上胸甲、拿起盾牌、腰間束上甲胄，拿起頂端綁著撕裂外衣的竿子（他稱之為自由旗幟），然後，跪在地上，熱切向神祈求，只要這地仍住有一群基督徒，就將自由這祝福賜給他的弟兄──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>13</span> And he fastened on his head-plate, and his <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng breastplate], and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng title] of liberty) and he <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng bowed] himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of<sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng Christians] remain to possess the land—</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>14</span> 凡屬神的教會且是基督真正信徒的，都被不屬教會的人這樣稱呼。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>14</span> For thus were all the true believers of Christ, who belonged to the church of God, called by those who did not belong to the church.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>15</span> 屬於教會的都是忠信的人；是的，基督的真正信徒都樂於承受<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/15a 基督]的名，或他們被稱之為<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/15b 基督徒]的稱呼，因為他們相信那必定來臨的基督。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>15</span> And those who did belong to the church were <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng faithful]; yea, all those who were true believers in Christ <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng took] upon them, gladly, the name of Christ, or <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng Christians] as they were called, because of their belief in Christ who should come.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>16</span> 因此，這時候，摩羅乃祈求基督徒的偉業以及這地的自由都得蒙祝福。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>16</span> And therefore, at this time, Moroni prayed that the cause of the Christians, and the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng freedom] of the land might be favored.</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>18</span> 他說：神絕不會讓我們這些因承受基督的名而遭鄙視的人被踐踏和消滅，除非我們自己犯罪，招此下場。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>18</span> And he said: Surely God shall not <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng suffer] that we, who are despised because we take upon us the name of Christ, shall be trodden down and destroyed, until we bring it upon us by our own <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng transgressions].</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>19</span> 摩羅乃說完這些話，就走到群眾當中，在空中揮舞他那撕裂的<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/19a 外衣]，讓所有的人都能看到他在那塊撕下的布上寫的字，同時他也大聲喊道：</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>19</span> And when Moroni had said these words, he went forth among the people, waving the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng rent] part of his garment in the air, that all might see the writing which he had written upon the rent part, and crying with a loud voice, saying:</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>20</span> 看啊，這塊土地上，凡願擁護這旗幟的人，請靠主的力量出來，立約保衛他們的權利和他們的宗教，好讓主神祝福他們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>20</span> Behold, whosoever will maintain this title upon the land, let them come forth in the strength of the Lord, and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng enter] into a covenant that they will <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng maintain] their rights, and their religion, that the Lord God may bless them.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>21</span> And it came to pass that when Moroni had proclaimed these words, behold, the people came running <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng together] with their armor girded about their loins, <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng rending] their garments in token, or as a <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng covenant], that they would not forsake the Lord their God; or, in other words, if they should transgress the commandments of God, or fall into transgression, and be <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng ashamed] to take upon them the name of Christ, the Lord should rend them even as they had rent their garments.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>22</span> 這就是他們立的約，他們把外衣丟到摩羅乃腳前，說：我們與神立約，如果我們陷入罪中，就必像我們北部地方的弟兄那樣被消滅；是的，如果我們陷入罪中，祂可以把我們丟在敵人腳前，就像我們把外衣丟到你的腳前被踐踏一樣。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>22</span> Now this was the covenant which they made, and they <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng cast]their garments at the feet of Moroni, saying: We <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng covenant] with our God, that we shall be destroyed, even as our brethren in the land northward, if we shall fall into transgression; yea, he may cast us at the feet of our enemies, even as we have cast our garments at thy feet to be trodden under foot, if we shall fall into transgression.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>23</span> 摩羅乃對他們說：看啊，我們是雅各後裔的遺裔；是的，我們是<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/23a 約瑟]<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/23b 後裔]的遺裔，他的<sup class='chineseSup'>ｃ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/23c 衣服]被他的哥哥撕成碎片。是的，現在看啊，我們要記得遵守神的誡命，否則我們的外衣必被我們的弟兄撕裂，我們會被關進監牢、被賣掉或被殺害。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>23</span> Moroni said unto them: Behold, we are a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng remnant] of the seed of Jacob; yea, we are a remnant of the seed of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng Joseph], whose <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng coat] was rent by his brethren into many pieces; yea, and now behold, let us remember to keep the commandments of God, or our garments shall be rent by our brethren, and we be cast into prison, or be sold, or be slain.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>24</span> Yea, let us preserve our liberty as a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng remnant] of Joseph; yea, let us remember the words of Jacob, before his death, for behold, he saw that a <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng part] of the <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng remnant] of the coat of Joseph was<sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng preserved] and had not decayed. And he said—Even as this remnant of garment of my son hath been preserved, so shall a<sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng remnant] of the seed of my son be preserved by the hand of God, and be taken unto himself, while the remainder of the seed of Joseph shall perish, even as the remnant of his garment.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>25</span> 現在看啊，這事使我的靈魂憂傷；然而，我的靈魂因我的兒子而歡喜，因他那一部分將被帶到神身邊的後裔而歡喜。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>25</span> Now behold, this giveth my soul sorrow; nevertheless, my soul hath joy in my son, because of that part of his seed which shall be taken unto God.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>26</span> 現在看啊，這就是雅各所說的話。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>26</span> Now behold, this was the language of Jacob.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>27</span> 說不定約瑟後裔的遺裔中，會像他的外衣一樣毀滅的人就是那些叛離我們的人；是的，如果我們不堅定對基督的信仰，被毀滅的人甚至就是我們。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>27</span> And now who knoweth but what the remnant of the seed of Joseph, which shall perish as his garment, are those who have dissented from us? Yea, and even it shall be ourselves if we do not stand fast in the faith of Christ.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>28</span> 事情是這樣的，摩羅乃說完這些話就出去，派人到每個有紛爭的地方去，召集所有想要維護自由的人民，與亞瑪利凱和那些叛離後稱作亞瑪利凱人的人對抗。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>28</span> And now it came to pass that when Moroni had said these words he went forth, and also sent forth in all the parts of the land where there were dissensions, and gathered together all the people who were desirous to maintain their liberty, to stand against Amalickiah and those who had dissented, who were called Amalickiahites.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>29</span> And it came to pass that when Amalickiah saw that the people of Moroni were more numerous than the Amalickiahites—and he also saw that his people were <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng doubtful] concerning the justice of the cause in which they had undertaken—therefore, fearing that he should not gain the point, he took those of his people who would and departed into the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng land] of Nephi.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>30</span> 摩羅乃認為拉曼人的力量不宜擴張，就想攔截亞瑪利凱人，或捉住他們，把他們帶回來，將亞瑪利凱處死；是的，因為他知道，亞瑪利凱會煽動拉曼人惱怒他們，使他們來攻打他們；他知道，亞瑪利凱為了達到目的，一定會這麼做。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>30</span> Now Moroni thought it was not expedient that the Lamanites should have any more <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng strength]; therefore he thought to cut off the people of Amalickiah, or to take them and bring them back, and put Amalickiah to death; yea, for he knew that he would stir up the Lamanites to anger against them, and cause them to come to battle against them; and this he knew that Amalickiah would do that he might obtain his purposes.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>34</span> Now, Moroni being a man who was <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng appointed] by the chief judges and the voice of the people, therefore he had power according to his will with the armies of the Nephites, to establish and to exercise authority over them.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>35</span> And it came to pass that whomsoever of the Amalickiahites that would not enter into a covenant to support the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng cause] of freedom, that they might maintain a free <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng government], he caused to be put to death; and there were but few who denied the covenant of freedom.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>36</span> 事情也是這樣的，他下令在尼腓人佔有的每一塊土地的每一座塔樓升起自由的旗幟；摩羅乃就這樣在尼腓人當中豎立自由的旗幟。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>36</span> And it came to pass also, that he caused the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng title] of liberty to be hoisted upon every tower which was in all the land, which was possessed by the Nephites; and thus Moroni planted the standard of liberty among the Nephites.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>37</span> 於是他們在這地開始重享和平；並維持這地的和平直到將近法官統治的第十九年末。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>37</span> And they began to have peace again in the land; and thus they did maintain peace in the land until nearly the end of the nineteenth year of the reign of the judges.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>39</span> And it came to pass that there were many who died, firmly<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng believing] that their souls were redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ; thus they went out of the world rejoicing.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>40</span> And there were some who died with fevers, which at some seasons of the year were very frequent in the land—but not so much so with fevers, because of the excellent qualities of the many <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng plants] and roots which God had prepared to remove the cause of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng diseases], to which men were subject by the nature of the climate—</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>41</span> 也有許多人年老而去世；我們應確信，那些懷著對基督的信仰而去世的人，都因祂而得到<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/alma/46/41a 幸福]。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>41</span> But there were many who died with <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng old] age; and those who died in the faith of Christ are <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/46?lang=eng happy] in him, as we must needs suppose.</p>
