<p class='english'>Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, 16 December 1833 (see History of the Church, 1:458–64). At this time the Saints who had gathered in Missouri were suffering great persecution. Mobs had driven them from their homes in Jackson County; and some of the Saints had tried to establish themselves in Van Buren County, but persecution followed them. The main body of the Saints was at that time in Clay County, Missouri. Threats of death against individuals of the Church were many. The people had lost household furniture, clothing, livestock, and other personal property; and many of their crops had been destroyed.</p>

<p class='english'>1–8, The Saints are chastened and afflicted because of their transgressions; 9–15, The Lord’s indignation will fall upon the nations, but his people will be gathered and comforted; 16–21, Zion and her stakes will be established; 22–31, The nature of life during the Millennium is set forth; 32–42, The Saints will be blessed and rewarded then; 43–62, The parable of the nobleman and the olive trees signifies the troubles and eventual redemption of Zion; 63–75, The Saints are to continue gathering together; 76–80, The Lord established the Constitution of the United States; 81–101, The Saints are to importune for the redress of grievances, according to the parable of the woman and the unjust judge.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>33</span> Things which have passed, and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng hidden] things which no man knew, things of the <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng earth], by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof—</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>34</span> 最寶貴的事、在上的事、在下的事、地裡的事、地上的事和天上的事。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>34</span> Things most precious, things that are above, and things that are beneath, things that are in the earth, and upon the earth, and in heaven.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>36</span> Wherefore, <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng fear] not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng joy] is full.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>37</span> 所以，不要為肉體憂慮，也不要為肉體的生命憂慮；但要為<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/101/37a 靈魂]憂慮，也要為靈魂的生命憂慮。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>37</span> Therefore, care not for the body, neither the life of the body; but care for the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng soul], and for the life of the soul.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>44</span> A certain <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng nobleman] had a spot of land, very choice; and he said unto his servants: Go ye unto my <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng vineyard], even upon this very choice piece of land, and plant twelve olive trees;</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>45</span> And set <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng watchmen] round about them, and build a tower, that one may overlook the land round about, to be a watchman upon the tower, that mine olive trees may not be broken down when the enemy shall come to spoil and take upon themselves the fruit of my vineyard.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>46</span> 於是，貴族的僕人就照他們主人的命令去做，種橄欖樹，在周圍築籬笆，派守望人，並開始建塔。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>46</span> Now, the servants of the nobleman went and did as their lord commanded them, and planted the olive trees, and built a hedge round about, and set watchmen, and began to build a tower.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>47</span> 他們還在打基礎的時候，就開始彼此議論說：我的主人要這塔做什麼呢？</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>47</span> And while they were yet laying the foundation thereof, they began to say among themselves: And what need hath my lord of this tower?</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>48</span> And consulted for a long time, saying among themselves: What need hath my lord of this tower, seeing this is a time of peace?</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>49</span> 這錢不能放給兌換錢的人嗎？因為這些事情是不需要的。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>49</span> Might not this money be given to the exchangers? For there is no need of these things.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>50</span> 他們彼此意見不同時，就變得很懶惰，並且不聽從主人的命令。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>50</span> And while they were at variance one with another they became very <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng slothful], and they hearkened not unto the commandments of their lord.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>51</span> 夜裡敵人來了，毀掉了<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/101/51a 籬笆]；貴族的僕人起來，倉皇逃走；敵人毀壞了他們的工作，也毀掉了橄欖樹。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>51</span> And the enemy came by night, and broke down the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng hedge]; and the servants of the nobleman arose and were affrighted, and fled; and the enemy destroyed their works, and broke down the olive trees.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>52</span> 於是，看啊，那貴族，葡萄園的主人，召集僕人問道，為什麼！這場大禍的原因是什麼？</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>52</span> Now, behold, the nobleman, the lord of the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng vineyard], called upon his servants, and said unto them, Why! what is the cause of this great evil?</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>53</span> 你們豈不該照我命令的去做──在葡萄園種植後，在四周築籬笆，在牆上派守望人──也要建一座塔，在塔上派守望人，看守我的葡萄園，不可睡著，以防敵人來襲嗎？</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>53</span> Ought ye not to have done even as I commanded you, and—after ye had planted the vineyard, and built the hedge round about, and set watchmen upon the walls thereof—built the tower also, and set a <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng watchman] upon the tower, and watched for my vineyard, and not have fallen asleep, lest the enemy should come upon you?</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>54</span> 看啊，敵人還遠的時候，塔上的守望人就可以看到了；那時你們就可以作好準備，阻止敵人毀掉籬笆，並從毀滅者手中拯救我的葡萄園。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>54</span> And behold, the watchman upon the tower would have seen the enemy while he was yet afar off; and then ye could have made ready and kept the enemy from breaking down the hedge thereof, and saved my vineyard from the hands of the destroyer.</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>56</span> 你們立刻到我葡萄園的土地去，收復我的葡萄園；因為那是我的，那是我用錢買來的。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>56</span> And go ye straightway unto the land of my vineyard, and redeem my vineyard; for it is mine; I have bought it with money.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>57</span> 所以，你們要立刻到我的土地去，毀掉我敵人的牆，拆掉他們的塔，驅散他們的守望人。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>57</span> Therefore, get ye straightway unto my land; break down the<sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng walls] of mine enemies; throw down their tower, and scatter their watchmen.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>59</span> And the servant said unto his lord: When shall these things be?</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>60</span> And he said unto his servant: When I will; go ye straightway, and do all things whatsoever I have commanded you;</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>61</span> And this shall be my seal and <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng blessing] upon you—a faithful and <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng wise] steward in the midst of mine house, a <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng ruler] in my kingdom.</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>63</span> 還有，我實在告訴你，只要教友為了他們的救恩，願意以正確合宜的方式受到指導，我就將我有關所有的各教會的智慧告訴你──</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>63</span> Again, verily I say unto you, I will show unto you wisdom in me concerning all the churches, inasmuch as they are <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng willing] to be guided in a right and proper way for their salvation—</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>64</span> That the work of the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng gathering] together of my saints may continue, that I may build them up unto my name upon <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng holy]places; for the time of <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng harvest] is come, and my word must needs be <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/101?lang=eng fulfilled].</p>

<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>66</span> 而稗子則要綁成捆，綁他們的繩索牢固，好用不滅的火<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/101/66a 焚燒]他們。</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>67</span> Therefore, a commandment I give unto all the churches, that they shall continue to gather together unto the places which I have appointed.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>69</span> And in order that all things be prepared before you, observe the commandment which I have given concerning these things—</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>76</span> And again I say unto you, those who have been scattered by their enemies, it is my will that they should continue to importune for redress, and redemption, by the hands of those who are placed as rulers and are in authority over you—</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>85</span> Thus will I liken the children of Zion.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>99</span> Therefore, it is my will that my people should claim, and hold claim upon that which I have appointed unto them, though they should not be permitted to dwell thereon.</p>
