<p class='english'>Revelation and prophecy on war, given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, 25 December 1832 (see History of the Church,1:301–2). This section was received at a time when the brethren were reflecting and reasoning upon African slavery on the American continent and the slavery of the children of men throughout the world.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>2</span> And the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng time] will come that <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng war] will be poured out upon all nations, beginning at this place.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>3</span> For behold, the Southern States shall be divided against the Northern States, and the Southern States will call on other nations, even the nation of Great Britain, as it is called, and they shall also call upon other nations, in order to defend themselves against other nations; and then <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng war] shall be poured out upon all nations.</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>4</span> 事情將是這樣，多日之後，<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/87/4a 奴隸]必起來反抗他們的主人，他們必為戰爭而集結並受訓。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>4</span> And it shall come to pass, after many days, <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng slaves] shall rise up against their masters, who shall be marshaled and disciplined for war.</p>

<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>6</span> And thus, with the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng sword] and by bloodshed the inhabitants of the earth shall <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng mourn]; and with <sup class='englishSup'>c</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng famine], and plague, and earthquake, and the thunder of heaven, and the fierce and vivid lightning also, shall the inhabitants of the earth be made to feel the wrath, and indignation, and <sup class='englishSup'>d</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng chastening] <sup class='englishSup'>e</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng hand] of an Almighty God, until the consumption decreed hath made a full <sup class='englishSup'>f</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng end] of all<sup class='englishSup'>g</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng nations];</p>
<p class='chinese'><span class='chineseVerse'>7</span> 好使聖徒和聖徒之<sup class='chineseSup'>ａ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/87/7a 血]的呼聲不再自大地上達<sup class='chineseSup'>ｂ</sup>[http://scriptures.lds.org/zh/dc/87/7b 撒]保斯之主的耳中，求祂向他們的敵人報復。</p>
<p class='english'><span class='englishVerse'>7</span> That the cry of the saints, and of the <sup class='englishSup'>a</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng blood] of the saints, shall cease to come up into the ears of the Lord of <sup class='englishSup'>b</sup>[http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/87?lang=eng Sabaoth], from the earth, to be avenged of their enemies.</p>
