<p class='english'>Shortly before His Crucifixion, Jesus Christ gathered His Apostles around Him in an upstairs room.</p>

<p class='english'>After His Resurrection, the Savior came to the Americas and taught the Nephites the same ordinance (see 3 Nephi 18:1–11; 20:1–9) .</p>

<p class='english'>After the Church was restored in the latter days, Jesus once again commanded His people to partake of the sacrament in remembrance of Him, saying, “It is expedient that the church meet together often to partake of bread and wine in the remembrance of the Lord Jesus” (D&C 20:75) .</p>

<p class='english'> The scriptures explain exactly how the sacrament is to be administered .</p>

<p class='english'>Members of the Church meet each Sabbath day to worship and partake of the sacrament (see D&C 20:75).</p>

<p class='english'> The sacrament is administered by those who hold the necessary priesthood authority .</p>

<p class='english'>A priest or Melchizedek Priesthood holder breaks bread into pieces, kneels, and blesses it (see D&C 20:76).</p>

<p class='english'> A deacon or other priesthood holder then passes the sacrament bread to the congregation .</p>

<p class='english'>Then the priest or Melchizedek Priesthood holder blesses the water, and it too is passed to the members.</p>

<p class='english'> Jesus gave His disciples wine when He introduced the sacrament.</p>

<p class='english'> However, in a latter-day revelation He has said that it doesn’t matter what we eat and drink during the sacrament as long as we remember Him (see D&C 27:2–3) .</p>

<p class='english'>Today, Latter-day Saints drink water instead of wine .</p>

<p class='english'> We should listen carefully to these beautiful prayers and try to understand what we are promising and what is being promised to us .</p>

<p class='english'>Here is the prayer that is offered to bless the bread: “O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen” (D&C 20:77) .</p>

<p class='chinese'>以下是祝福水的祈禱文：「神啊，永恆的父，我們奉您子耶穌基督的名，祈求您為所有飲用此酒〔水〕之人的靈魂，祝福並聖化此酒〔水〕，讓他們飲用，以記得您子為他們所流的血；使他們能向您，神啊，永恆的父，證明他們確實一直記得祂，使他們能有祂的靈與他們同在。阿們」（教約20：79）。</p>

<p class='english'>Here is the prayer that is offered to bless the water: “O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this wine [water] to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his Spirit to be with them. Amen” (D&C 20:79) .</p>

<p class='english'>Each time we partake of the sacrament, we renew covenants with the Lord.</p>

<p class='chinese'>聖約是主與祂兒女之間的神聖約定。</p>

<p class='english'> A covenant is a sacred promise between the Lord and His children.</p>

<p class='chinese'>我們所立的聖約在聖餐祈禱文中有清楚的陳述。</p>

<p class='english'> The covenants we make are clearly stated in the sacramental prayers.</p>

<p class='english'> It is important to know what those covenants are and what they mean .</p>

<p class='english'>We covenant that we are willing to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ.
 By this we show we are willing to be identified with Him and His Church.</p>

<p class='english'> We commit to serve Him and our fellowman.</p>

<p class='chinese'>我們答應絕不做任何有辱祂名的事情。</p>

<p class='english'> We promise that we will not bring shame or reproach upon that name .</p>

<p class='english'>We covenant to always remember Jesus Christ.</p>

<p class='english'> All our thoughts, feelings, and actions will be influenced by Him and His mission .</p>

<p class='english'> Thus, when we partake of the sacrament, we renew the covenants we made when we were baptized .</p>

<p class='english'>Jesus gave us the pattern for partaking of the sacrament (see 3 Nephi 18:1–12) and said that when we follow this pattern, repenting of our sins and believing on His name, we will gain a remission of our sins (see Joseph Smith Translation, Matthew 26:24) .</p>

<p class='chinese'>主應許，我們只要遵守所立的約，就能一直有祂的靈與我們同在。</p>

<p class='english'>The Lord promises that if we keep our covenants, we will always have His Spirit to be with us.</p>

<p class='chinese'>受靈指引的人會有知識、信心、力量及正義，去獲得永生。</p>

<p class='english'> A person guided by the Spirit will have the knowledge, faith, power, and righteousness to gain eternal life .</p>

<p class='english'> What can we think about during the sacrament to help us remember the Savior’s Atonement ?</p>

<p class='chinese'>我們在領用聖餐前，必須在靈性上準備好自己。</p>

<p class='english'>Before partaking of the sacrament, we are to prepare ourselves spiritually.</p>

<p class='chinese'>主強調說，任何人都不應該不配稱地領用聖餐。</p>

<p class='english'> The Lord emphasizes that no one should partake of the sacrament unworthily.</p>

<p class='chinese'>也就是說，我們在領用聖餐前，必須先悔改我們的罪。</p>

<p class='english'> That means we must repent of our sins before taking the sacrament.</p>

<p class='chinese'>經文說：「如果有人犯罪，在他作調解以前，不要讓他領受聖餐」（教約46：4）。</p>

<p class='english'> The scriptures say, “If any have trespassed, let him not partake until he makes reconciliation” (D&C 46:4).</p>

<p class='chinese'>主指示祂的十二位尼腓門徒說：「你們主理聖餐時，不可故意讓任何人不配稱地領受我的肉和血；因為凡不配稱地吃喝我的肉和血的，就是把罪罰吃進喝進他的靈魂裡」（尼腓三書18：28-29）。</p>

<p class='english'> The Lord instructed His twelve Nephite disciples, “Ye shall not suffer any one knowingly to partake of my flesh and blood unworthily, when ye shall minister it; for whoso eateth and drinketh my flesh and blood unworthily eateth and drinketh damnation to his soul” (3 Nephi 18:28–29) .</p>

<p class='chinese'>在聖餐儀式中，我們要放下所有世俗的思慮，應該要感覺虔誠和恭敬。</p>

<p class='english'>During the sacrament service we should dismiss from our minds all worldly thoughts. We should feel prayerful and reverent.</p>

<p class='english'> We should think of the Atonement of our Savior and be grateful for it.</p>

<p class='chinese'>我們應該檢討自己的生活，找出改進的方法。</p>

<p class='english'> We should also renew our determination to keep the commandments .</p>

<p class='english'>We do not need to be perfect before partaking of the sacrament, but we must have the spirit of repentance in our hearts.</p>

<p class='english'> The attitude with which we partake of the sacrament influences our experience with it.</p>
