Alma and Amulek are imprisoned and smitten—The believers and their holy scriptures are burned by fire—These martyrs are received by the Lord in glory—The prison walls are rent and fall—Alma and Amulek are delivered, and their persecutors are slain. About 82–81 B.C.
1 事情是這樣的，他向人民講完了話，有很多人相信他的話，開始悔改和查考ａ經文。
1 And it came to pass after he had made an end of speaking unto the people many of them did believe on his words, and began to repent, and to search the ascriptures.
2 但是大部分的人都想殺死阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克；他們惱怒阿爾瑪，因為他對齊愛治樂ａ直言不諱；他們還說艾繆萊克ｂ欺騙他們，侮辱他們的法律，也辱罵他們的律師和法官。
2 But the more part of them were desirous that they might destroy Alma and Amulek; for they were angry with Alma, because of the aplainness of his words unto Zeezrom; and they also said that Amulek had blied unto them, and had reviled against their law and also against their lawyers and judges.
3 他們也惱怒阿爾瑪與艾繆萊克，想暗中除掉他們，因為他們直言不諱地見證他們的邪惡。
3 And they were also angry with Alma and Amulek; and because they had atestified so plainly against their wickedness, they sought to bput them away privily.
4 但是事情是這樣的，他們並沒有這麼做；他們把阿爾瑪與艾繆萊克抓起來，用堅韌的繩索綁著，帶到當地的首席法官那裡。
4 But it came to pass that they did not; but they took them and bound them with strong cords, and took them before the chief judge of the land.
5 人民前去作不利他們的見證，說他們侮辱法律，辱罵他們的律師以及當地的法官，也就是當地全體人民的法官，還說他們見證只有一位神，祂要差祂的兒子到人民之中，卻不拯救他們；人民見證了很多這樣的事來陷害阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克。人民就在當地首席法官面前這樣做。
5 And the people went forth and witnessed against them—testifying that they had reviled against the law, and their lawyers and judges of the land, and also of all the people that were in the land; and also testified that there was but one God, and that he should send his Son among the people, but he should anot save them; and many such things did the people testify against Alma and Amulek. Now this was done before the chief judge of the land.
6 事情是這樣的，人民說的這些話使齊愛治樂非常震驚；他也知道，因為他的謊言，人民的心智盲目；他ａ自覺有罪，靈魂開始備受ｂ折磨；地獄般的痛苦開始將他團團圍住。
6 And it came to pass that Zeezrom was astonished at the words which had been spoken; and he also knew concerning theablindness of the minds, which he had caused among the people by his blying words; and his soul began to be charrowed up under a dconsciousness of his own guilt; yea, he began to be encircled about by the pains of hell.
7 事情是這樣的，他開始向人民呼喊道：看啊，我是個ａ罪人，這兩個人在神前是潔淨無瑕的。從此他開始為他們辯護；但他們辱罵他說：你也被鬼附了嗎？他們向他吐口水，把他ｂ趕出去，凡相信阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克所說的話的人也都被趕出去；人民把他們趕出去，派人用石頭擲打他們。
7 And it came to pass that he began to cry unto the people, saying: Behold, I am aguilty, and these men are spotless before God. And he began to plead for them from that time forth; but they reviled him, saying: Art thou also possessed with the devil? And they spit upon him, and bcast him out from among them, and also all those who believed in the words which had been spoken by Alma and Amulek; and they cast them out, and sent men to cast stones at them.
8 他們把這些人的妻子兒女帶到一起，凡相信或接受教導而相信神的話的人，都被丟進火裡；他們也把載有神聖經文的紀錄拿來，丟進火裡，要把這些東西燒毀。
8 And they brought their wives and children together, and whosoever believed or had been taught to believe in the word of God they caused that they should be acast into the fire; and they also brought forth their records which contained the holy scriptures, and cast them into the fire also, that they might bebburned and destroyed by fire.
9 事情是這樣的，他們把阿爾瑪與艾繆萊克抓起來，押到那些人殉難的地方，叫他們目睹那些被火吞噬的人的毀滅。
9 And it came to pass that they took Alma and Amulek, and carried them forth to the place of amartyrdom, that they might witness the destruction of those who were consumed by fire.
10 艾繆萊克看到被火燒的婦女和小孩的痛苦，自己也非常痛苦；他對阿爾瑪說：我們怎麼能眼睜睜看著這麼可怕的事發生呢？讓我們伸出手來，運用神在我們裡面的ａ力量，把他們從火中救出來吧。
10 And when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children who were consuming in the fire, he also was pained; and he said unto Alma: How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the apower of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.
11 但是阿爾瑪對他說：靈強制我不得伸出手來；因為看啊，主會將他們接上去到自己身邊，接到ａ榮耀裡；祂容許他們這麼做，換句話說，祂容許人民因心地頑硬而這麼做，是要使祂在憤怒中所降的ｂ懲罰顯得公正，使那ｃ無辜者的ｄ血作為不利他們的見證，是的，並在末日大聲喊著控訴他們。
11 But Alma said unto him: The Spirit constraineth me that I must not stretch forth mine hand; for behold the Lord receiveth them up unto himself, in aglory; and he doth suffer that they may do this thing, or that the people may do this thing unto them, according to the hardness of their hearts, that the bjudgmentswhich he shall exercise upon them in his wrath may be just; and the cblood of the dinnocent shall stand as a witness against them, yea, and cry mightily against them at the last day.
12 艾繆萊克對阿爾瑪說：看啊，說不定他們也要燒我們。
12 Now Amulek said unto Alma: Behold, perhaps they will burn us also.
13 阿爾瑪說：就讓這事隨主的旨意發生吧。但是看啊，我們的工作還沒有做完，他們不會燒我們。
13 And Alma said: Be it according to the will of the Lord. But, behold, our work is not finished; therefore they burn us not.
14 事情是這樣的，那些被丟進火裡的人以及和他們一同被丟進火裡的紀錄都焚毀後，當地首席法官來到仍被捆綁著的阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克面前，用手摑打他們，對他們說：看了這一幕，你們還會向這人民宣講說他們一定會被丟進硫磺ａ火湖裡嗎？
14 Now it came to pass that when the bodies of those who had been cast into the fire were consumed, and also the records which were cast in with them, the chief judge of the land came and stood before Alma and Amulek, as they were bound; and he smote them with his hand upon their acheeks, and said unto them: After what ye have seen, will ye preach again unto this people, that they shall be cast into a blake of fire and brimstone?
15 你們看，你們沒有能力救那些被丟進火裡的人，神也沒有因為他們和你們的信仰相同而拯救他們。法官又摑打他們並問道：你們還有什麼話說？
15 Behold, ye see that ye had not power to save those who had been cast into the fire; neither has God saved them because they were of thy faith. And the judge smote them again upon their cheeks, and asked: What say ye for yourselves?
16 這法官與殺害基甸的ａ尼賀同一教派，同一信仰。
16 Now this judge was after the order and faith of aNehor, who slew Gideon.
17 事情是這樣的，阿爾瑪與艾繆萊克什麼也不回答，他再打他們，把他們交給獄吏，關進監牢。
17 And it came to pass that Alma and Amulek answered himanothing; and he smote them again, and delivered them to the officers to be bcast into prison.
18 他們被關進監牢三天之後，來了很多ａ律師、法官、祭司、教師，他們都是尼賀教派的；他們到牢裡看阿爾瑪與艾繆萊克，問他們許多話，但是他們什麼也不回答他們。
18 And when they had been cast into prison three days, there came many alawyers, and judges, and priests, and teachers, who were of the profession of Nehor; and they came in unto the prison to see them, and they questioned them about many words; but they answered them nothing.
19 事情是這樣的，法官站在他們面前說，你們怎麼不回答這人民的話？難道你們不知道我有權把你們丟到火裡嗎？他命令他們說話，但是他們什麼也不回答。
19 And it came to pass that the judge stood before them, and said: Why do ye not answer the words of this people? Know ye not that I have apower to deliver you up unto the flames? And hebcommanded them to speak; but they answered nothing.
20 事情是這樣的，他們各自離去，但是第二天又來了；法官再次摑打他們。許多人也上前來打他們，並說：你們還要起來論斷這人民，挑剔我們的法律嗎？如果你們真有這麼大的能力，為什麼不ａ救救自己？
20 And it came to pass that they departed and went their ways, but came again on the morrow; and the judge also smote them again on their cheeks. And many came forth also, and smote them, saying: Will ye stand again and judge this people, and condemn our law? If ye have such great power why do ye notadeliver yourselves?
21 他們對阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克說了很多這樣的話，對他們咬牙切齒，向他們吐口水，並且說道：我們被懲罰的時候，會是什麼樣子呢？
21 And many such things did they say unto them, gnashing their teeth upon them, and spitting upon them, and saying: How shall we look when we are damned?
22 他們對阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克說了很多這樣的話，是的，種種諸如此類的話；一連好幾天，他們就這樣嘲弄他們，不給他們東西吃，讓他們挨餓，不給他們水喝，讓他們口渴，還剝去他們的衣服，讓他們赤裸；他們就這樣被堅韌的繩子綁著，關在牢裡。
22 And many such things, yea, all manner of such things did they say unto them; and thus they did amock them for many days. And they did withhold food from them that they might hunger, and water that they might thirst; and they also did take from them their clothes that they were naked; and thus they were bboundwith strong cords, and confined in cprison.
23 事情是這樣的，他們這樣被折磨了好幾天後，（這是在法官統治尼腓人的第十年的第十個月的第十二日）艾蒙乃哈地的首席法官和他們許多的教師、律師，都到仍被繩索綁著的阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克所在的監牢裡。
23 And it came to pass after they had thus suffered for many days, (and it was on the twelfth day, in the tenth month, in the tenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi) that the chief judge over the land of aAmmonihah and many of their teachers and their lawyers went in unto the prison where Alma and Amulek were bound with cords.
24 首席法官站在他們面前，又打了他們，並對他們說：如果你們真有神的力量，就救自己脫離這些捆綁，那麼我們就相信神會照著你們的話毀滅這人民。
24 And the chief judge stood before them, and smote them again, and said unto them: If ye have the apower of God deliver yourselves from these bands, and then we will believe that the Lord will destroy this people according to your words.
25 事情是這樣的，他們都上前打他們，說同樣的話，直到最後一個；最後一個對他們說完話後，ａ神的力量就臨到阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克身上，他們兩人就起身，站了起來。
25 And it came to pass that they all went forth and smote them, saying the same words, even until the last; and when the last had spoken unto them the apower of God was upon Alma and Amulek, and they rose and stood upon their feet.
26 阿爾瑪呼喊道：主啊，我們要忍受這些大ａ苦難到幾時呢？主啊，求您按照我們對基督的信心，賜給我們力量，解救我們。於是他們掙斷捆綁他們的繩索；人民看到這種情形，就開始逃跑，深恐毀滅臨頭。
26 And Alma cried, saying: How long shall we suffer these greataafflictions, O Lord? O Lord, bgive us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto cdeliverance. And they broke the cords with which they were bound; and when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them.
27 事情是這樣的，他們驚恐萬狀，還沒逃到ａ監牢外門就倒在地上；大地劇烈震動，牢牆裂成兩半，倒塌在地；打阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克的首席法官、律師、祭司、教師都被倒下的牢牆壓死了。
27 And it came to pass that so great was their fear that they fell to the earth, and did not obtain the outer door of the aprison; and the earth shook mightily, and the walls of the prison were rent in twain, so that they fell to the earth; and the chief judge, and the lawyers, and priests, and teachers, who smote upon Alma and Amulek, were slain by the fall thereof.
28 阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克走出監牢，沒有受傷；因為主按照他們對基督的信心，賜給他們力量。他們立刻從監牢走出來，身上的束縛都已ａ解開；監牢倒塌在地，在牢牆內的人，除了阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克外，都被壓死了；他們立刻走進城裡。
28 And Alma and Amulek came forth out of the prison, and they were not hurt; for the Lord had granted unto them apower, according to their faith which was in Christ. And they straightway came forth out of the prison; and they were bloosed from theircbands; and the prison had fallen to the earth, and every soul within the walls thereof, save it were Alma and Amulek, was slain; and they straightway came forth into the city.
29 人民聽到巨大聲響，成群地一起跑來看究竟是什麼原因；他們看到阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克走出監牢，又看到牢牆倒塌在地，頓感驚恐萬狀，就像山羊帶著小羊在兩頭獅子面前逃跑那樣，在阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克面前逃跑；他們就那樣從阿爾瑪和艾繆萊克面前逃跑。
29 Now the people having heard a great noise came running together by multitudes to know the cause of it; and when they saw Alma and Amulek coming forth out of the prison, and the walls thereof had fallen to the earth, they were struck with great fear, and fled from the presence of Alma and Amulek even as a goat fleeth with her young from two lions; and thus they did flee from the presence of Alma and Amulek.
