The Atonement Is Necessary for Our Salvation
● 為什麼贖罪對我們的救恩是必要的?
• Why is the Atonement necessary for our salvation ?
耶穌基督「來到世上,為世人被釘在十字架上,承擔世人的罪,聖化世界,洗淨世界一切的不義;經由祂,所有的人都能得救」(教約76:41-42)。
Jesus Christ “came into the world ... to be crucified for the world, and to bear the sins of the world, and to sanctify the world, and to cleanse it from all unrighteousness; that through him all might be saved” (D&C 76:41–42).
祂為了償付我們罪的代價和克服死亡而作的偉大犧牲,稱為贖罪。
The great sacrifice He made to pay for our sins and overcome death is called the Atonement.
這是人類歷史上發生過的最重要的一件事:「贖罪是必定要完成的;因為根據永恆之神的偉大計畫,必須完成贖罪,否則全人類必難免滅亡;是的,世人都頑硬,是的,都已墜落迷失,除非透過那必須完成的贖罪,否則世人都必滅亡」(阿爾瑪書34:9)。
It is the most important event that has ever occurred in the history of mankind: “For it is expedient that an atonement should be made; for according to the great plan of the Eternal God there must be an atonement made, or else all mankind must unavoidably perish; … yea, all are fallen and are lost, and must perish except it be through the atonement” (Alma 34:9) .
亞當的墜落將兩種死亡帶進這世界:屬世的死亡和屬靈的死亡。
The Fall of Adam brought two kinds of death into the world: physical death and spiritual death.
屬世的死亡是指身體和靈分開。
Physical death is separation of the body and spirit.
屬靈的死亡是指與神隔絕。
Spiritual death is separation from God.
假如耶穌基督的贖罪沒有克服這兩種死亡,就會造成兩種後果:我們的身體和靈將永遠分開,而且我們無法再和天父住在一起(尼腓二書9:7-9)。
If these two kinds of death had not been overcome by Jesus Christ’s Atonement, two consequences would have resulted: our bodies and our spirits would have been separated forever, and we could not have lived again with our Heavenly Father (see 2 Nephi 9:7–9) .
但是睿智的天父預備了一個美好且慈悲的計畫,來拯救我們脫離屬世和屬靈的死亡。
But our wise Heavenly Father prepared a wonderful, merciful plan to save us from physical and spiritual death.
祂安排了一位救主到世界上來,把我們從罪惡和死亡中贖了(救贖)出來。
He planned for a Savior to come to earth to ransom (redeem) us from our sins and from death .
由於我們的罪和肉體的軟弱,我們是無法贖回自己的(見阿爾瑪書34:10-12)。
Because of our sins and the weakness of our mortal bodies, we could not ransom ourselves (see Alma 34:10–12).
要成為我們救主的人必須是無罪的,而且要有能力克服死亡。
The one who would be our Savior would need to be sinless and to have power over death .

Jesus Christ Was the Only One Who Could Atone for Our Sins
● 為什麼耶穌基督是唯一能贖我們的罪的人?
• Why was Jesus Christ the only one who could atone for our sins ?
耶穌基督之所以是我們的救主的唯一人選,有好幾個理由。
There are several reasons why Jesus Christ was the only person who could be our Savior.
有一個理由是:天父揀選祂成為我們的救主。
One reason is that Heavenly Father chose Him to be the Savior.
祂是神的獨生子,因此祂有能力克服死亡。
He was the Only Begotten Son of God and thus had power over death.
耶穌說明:「我將命捨去,好再取回來。
Jesus explained: “I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
沒有人奪我的命去,是我自己捨的。
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.
我有權柄捨了,也有權柄取回來」(約翰福音10:17-18)。
I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again” ( John 10:17–18) .
耶穌有資格成為我們救主的另一個理由是:祂是這世界上唯一沒有犯過罪的人。
Jesus also qualified to be our Savior because He is the only person who has ever lived on the earth who did not sin.
這一點就讓祂夠資格為其他人的罪償付代價而犧牲。
This made Him a worthy sacrifice to pay for the sins of others .
基督受難而死,為的是救贖我們的罪
Christ Suffered and Died to Atone for Our Sins
● 閱讀本單元時,想像自己在客西馬尼園或是十字架旁,親眼目睹耶穌基督受苦的情形。
• As you read this section, imagine yourself in the Garden of Gethsemane or at the cross as a witness of the suffering of Jesus Christ .
救主為了贖我們的罪,在客西馬尼園裡受苦,並死在十字架上。
The Savior atoned for our sins by suffering in Gethsemane and by giving His life on the cross.
我們無法完全了解祂是怎麼為我們所犯的罪行受苦的。
It is impossible for us to fully understand how He suffered for all of our sins.
在客西馬尼園裡,我們所有人的罪重壓在祂身上,那痛苦讓祂的每個毛孔都流血(見教約19:18-19)。
In the Garden of Gethsemane, the weight of our sins caused Him to feel such agony that He bled from every pore (see D&C 19:18–19).
後來,耶穌被釘在十字架上時,承受世人所知最殘酷的方式痛苦地死去。
Later, as He hung upon the cross, Jesus suffered painful death by one of the most cruel methods known to man .
耶穌是何等愛我們才願意為我們在靈性和肉體上承受如此巨大的痛苦!
How Jesus loves us, to suffer such spiritual and physical agony for our sake!
天父的愛何其偉大,祂願意差祂的獨生子來為祂其他的兒女受苦而死。
How great the love of Heavenly Father that He would send His Only Begotten Son to suffer and die for the rest of His children.
「神愛世人,甚至將祂的獨生子賜給他們,叫一切信祂的,不致滅亡,反得永生」(約翰福音3:16)。
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” ( John 3:16) .
贖罪和復活帶來全人類的復活
The Atonement and Resurrection Bring Resurrection to All
基督被釘十字架三天後,又重回自己的身體,成為第一個復活的人。
On the third day after His Crucifixion, Christ took up His body again and became the first person to be resurrected.
祂的朋友去找祂的時候,守護墳墓的天使們告訴他們:「祂不在這裡,照祂所說的,已經復活了」(馬太福音28:6)。
When His friends went to seek Him, the angels who guarded His tomb told them, “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said” (Matthew 28:6) .
祂的靈再次進入祂的身體,永遠不再分開。
His spirit had reentered His body, never to be separated again .
基督就這樣克服了屬世的死亡。
Christ thus overcame physical death.
由於祂的贖罪,每一個出生到這世上來的人都會復活(見哥林多前書15:21-22)。
Because of His Atonement, everyone born on this earth will be resurrected (see 1 Corinthians 15:21–22).
就像耶穌復活了一樣,我們的靈也會與我們的身體重新結合,「不再死亡,……永不分開」(阿爾瑪書11:45)。
Just as Jesus was resurrected, our spirits will be reunited with our bodies, “that they can die no more … , never to be divided” (Alma 11:45).
這種狀態稱為不死。
This condition is called immortality .
所有曾經活在世上的人,「老的或少的,為奴的或自主的,男的或女的,邪惡的或正義的」(阿爾瑪書11:44),都會復活。
All people who have ever lived will be resurrected, “both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous” (Alma 11:44) .

The Atonement Makes It Possible for Those Who Have Faith in Christ to Be Saved from Their Sins

Whom do the people in the parable represent in our lives ?
救主的贖罪使我們得以克服屬靈的死亡。
The Savior’s Atonement makes it possible for us to overcome spiritual death.
雖然所有的人都會復活,但只有接受贖罪的人才能從屬靈的死亡中得救(見信條第3 條)。
Although all people will be resurrected, only those who accept the Atonement will be saved from spiritual death (see Articles of Faith 1:3) .
我們對基督有信心而接受祂的贖罪。
We accept Christ’s Atonement by placing our faith in Him.
透過這樣的信心,我們悔改所犯的罪、受洗、接受聖靈,並遵守祂的誡命。
Through this faith, we repent of our sins, are baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and obey His commandments.
我們成為耶穌基督忠信的門徒。
We become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
我們會得到寬恕,我們的罪會被滌淨,並且準備好回去與天父永遠住在一起。
We are forgiven and cleansed from sin and prepared to return and live forever with our Heavenly Father .
救主告訴我們:「因為,看啊,我,神,替全人類承受了這些,他們……可以不……像我一樣受苦」(教約19:16-17)。
The Savior tells us, “For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer … even as I” (D&C 19:16–17).
基督完成了祂的部分,贖了我們的罪。
Christ did His part to atone for our sins.
為了讓祂的贖罪在我們生活中充分發揮效力,我們必須努力服從祂,並悔改我們的罪。
To make His Atonement fully effective in our lives, we must strive to obey Him and repent of our sins .
十二使徒議會的培道.潘會長舉了以下例子,說明我們如果做到自己的部分,基督的贖罪就能拯救我們脫離罪。
President Boyd K. Packer of the Council of the Twelve gave the following illustration to show how Christ’s Atonement makes it possible to be saved from sin if we do our part .
「我要告訴跟各位講一個故事──一個比喻。
“Let me tell you a story—a parable .
「曾經有一個人很想要一樣東西。
“There once was a man who wanted something very much.
在他的生命中,別的東西似乎都沒有它來得重要。
It seemed more important than anything else in his life.
他為了擁有這樣東西,負了一大筆債。
In order for him to have his desire, he incurred a great debt .
「有人警告過他將會負債累累,尤其要留意他的債權人。
“He had been warned about going into that much debt, and particularly about his creditor.
但此時此刻能立刻做他想做的事,得到他想要的東西,對他而言似乎比什麼都還重要。
But it seemed so important for him to do what he wanted to do and to have what he wanted right now.
他相信他以後能付清債務。
He was sure he could pay for it later .
「所以,他簽了合約。
“So he signed a contract.
總有一天,他會把欠款付清。
He would pay it off some time along the way.
他不太擔心這件事,因為來日方長呢!
He didn’t worry too much about it, for the due date seemed such a long time away.
他現在擁有了他所想要的東西,這才是重點。
He had what he wanted now, and that was what seemed important .
「債權人的影子不時出現在他腦海裡。他偶爾象徵性地付了一些錢,總認為結算日永遠不會來到。
“The creditor was always somewhere in the back of his mind, and he made token payments now and again, thinking somehow that the day of reckoning really would never come .
「然而,事情總是這樣的,那一天終於來了,合約到期了。
“But as it always does, the day came, and the contract fell due.
債務還沒有完全付清。
The debt had not been fully paid.
債權人來了,要求一次付清。
His creditor appeared and demanded payment in full .
「這時候,他才知道債權人不僅有權利拿走他所擁有的一切,也有權利把他送進監獄。
“Only then did he realize that his creditor not only had the power to repossess all that he owned, but the power to cast him into prison as well .
「『我無法還錢,因為我沒有能力還債。』他承認說道。
“ ‘I cannot pay you, for I have not the power to do so,’ he confessed .
「『那麼,』債權人說:『我們只好履行合約,沒收你的財產,並且你要入獄。
“ ‘Then,’ said the creditor, ‘we will exercise the contract, take your possessions, and you shall go to prison.
這是你同意的,是你的選擇。
You agreed to that. It was your choice.
你簽了這份合約,現在必須強制執行。』
You signed the contract, and now it must be enforced.
「『你可不可以寬限一點時間,或者免了我的債﹖』債務人乞求說。
’ “ ‘Can you not extend the time or forgive the debt? ’ the debtor begged.
『讓我有辦法既保有財產,也不用入獄。
‘Arrange some way for me to keep what I have and not go to prison.
求你大發慈悲吧?
Surely you believe in mercy?
行行善,好嗎?』
Will you not show mercy?
「債權人回答說:『慈悲常常是偏厚一方,只對你有利。
’ “The creditor replied, ‘Mercy is always so one-sided. It would serve only you.<
假如我對你慈悲,我就拿不到錢。
If I show mercy to you, it will leave me unpaid.
我要的是公道。
It is justice I demand.
你相信公道吧?』
Do you believe in justice?
「『簽約的時候,我相信公道。』債務人回答說。
’ “ ‘I believed in justice when I signed the contract,’ the debtor said .
『那時候,公道站在我這一邊,因為我覺得它會保護我。
‘It was on my side then, for I thought it would protect me.
那時候,我不需要慈悲,我以為我永遠都不需要。
I did not need mercy then, nor think I should need it ever.
我以為公道對我們是一視同仁的。』
Justice, I thought, would serve both of us equally as well.
「『公道要求你必須按照合約付錢,否則就要受罰。』債權人回答說。
’ “ ‘It is justice that demands that you pay the contract or suffer the penalty,’ the creditor replied.
『這就是法律。
‘That is the law.
這是你曾經同意的,必須這樣做。
You have agreed to it and that is the way it must be.
慈悲不能剝奪公道。』
Mercy cannot rob justice.
「現在的情況是:一個要求公道,另一個懇求慈悲。
’ “There they were: One meting out justice, the other pleading for mercy.
不可能兩邊都滿足,一定會要犧牲一方。
Neither could prevail except at the expense of the other .
「『你不免我的債,就是一點慈悲都沒有。』債務人懇求道。
“ ‘If you do not forgive the debt there will be no mercy,’ the debtor pleaded .
「『我如果這樣做,就沒有公道。』債權人回答說。
“ ‘If I do, there will be no justice,’ was the reply .
「看來似乎沒有辦法同時滿足兩邊的要求。
“Both laws, it seemed, could not be served.
這兩個永恆的觀點似乎彼此衝突。
They are two eternal ideals that appear to contradict one another.
難道沒有方法可以充分履行公道又滿足慈悲嗎?
Is there no way for justice to be fully served, and mercy also ?
「是有方法的!
“There is a way!
公道的律法可以充分施行,而慈悲也可以充分發揮──但這必須由另外一個人來做。
The law of justice can be fully satisfied and mercy can be fully extended—but it takes someone else.
這一次,事情是這樣的。
And so it happened this time .
「債務人有一位朋友。
“The debtor had a friend.
他來幫忙。
He came to help.
他跟債務人很熟。
He knew the debtor well.
他知道這個人缺乏遠見。
He knew him to be shortsighted.
他覺得他讓自己陷入這樣的窘境實在不智。
He thought him foolish to have gotten himself into such a predicament.
不過,他想幫他的忙,因為他關心他。
Nevertheless, he wanted to help because he loved him.
他介入其中,對債權人提出這樣的建議。
He stepped between them, faced the creditor, and made this offer .
「『假如你願意解除與債務人的合約,使他能保有財產而不入獄,我願意償付這些債務。』
“ ‘I will pay the debt if you will free the debtor from his contract so that he may keep his possessions and not go to prison.
債權人在考慮此一建議時,這位調解人又說:『你要求公道,他沒有能力還你錢,但是我會替他還。
’ “As the creditor was pondering the offer, the mediator added, ‘You demanded justice. Though he cannot pay you, I will do so.
你得到了公平的待遇,不可以再多作要求,否則就不公平了。』
You will have been justly dealt with and can ask no more. It would not be just.
「債權人因而同意了。
’ “And so the creditor agreed .
「這位調解人轉過身來,對債務人說:『假如我幫你還債,你願意讓我作你的債權人嗎﹖』
“The mediator turned then to the debtor. ‘If I pay your debt, will you accept me as your creditor?
「『啊,當然,當然。』債務人哭著說。
’ “ ‘Oh yes, yes,’ cried the debtor.
『你救我免於坐牢,又對我大發慈悲。』
‘You save me from prison and show mercy to me.
「『那麼,』這恩人說:『你欠的債要還給我,我會訂出條件,不會很容易,但是可以辦到的。
’ “ ‘Then,’ said the benefactor, ‘you will pay the debt to me and I will set the terms. It will not be easy, but it will be possible.
我會提供一種方法。
I will provide a way.
你也不需要坐牢。』
You need not go to prison.
「於是,債權人拿回全部的欠款,得到公平的待遇。
’ “And so it was that the creditor was paid in full. He had been justly dealt with.
沒有毀約的事情發生。
No contract had been broken .
「相對的,債務人也得到慈悲的對待。
“The debtor, in turn, had been extended mercy.
兩項律法都得到了滿足。
Both laws stood fulfilled.
因為有了一位調解人,公道得到了它所要求的部分,慈悲也得到了滿足」( in Conference Report, Apr. 1977, 79–80;or Ensign, May 1977, 54–55)。
Because there was a mediator, justice had claimed its full share, and mercy was fully satisfied” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1977, 79–80; or Ensign, May 1977, 54–55) .
我們的罪就是我們的靈性債務。
Our sins are our spiritual debts.
若沒有耶穌基督──我們的救主及調解人,我們都要自己償付罪的代價,承受靈性的死亡。
Without Jesus Christ, who is our Savior and Mediator, we would all pay for our sins by suffering spiritual death.
但是因為祂,只要我們遵守祂的條件,也就是悔改並遵守祂的誡命,我們就可以回去與天父同住。
But because of Him, if we will keep His terms, which are to repent and keep His commandments, we may return to live with our Heavenly Father .
基督為我們提供了一個脫離罪惡和獲得醫治的方法,真是太好了。
It is wonderful that Christ has provided us a way to be healed from our sins.
祂說:「看啊,我已來到世上,……救世人脫離罪惡。
He said: “Behold, I have come unto the world … to save the world from sin .
「因此,凡悔改而像小孩般歸向我的,我必接待他,因為在神國的,正是這樣的人。
“Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto me as a little child, him will I receive, for of such is the kingdom of God.
看啊,我已為這樣的人捨了命,又把命取回來;因此你們大地各端的人啊,要悔改,並歸向我,以便得救」(尼腓三書9:21-22)。
Behold, for such I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved” (3 Nephi 9:21–22) .
