Willingly paying tithes and offerings is one way we thank Him.

As we pay these offerings, we show that we love Him and will obey His counsel .

Obeying the Law of Tithing

在古代，亞伯拉罕和雅各都服從什一奉獻律法，繳納所得的十分之一（見希伯來書7：1-10；創世記14：19-20；28：20-22）。

Anciently, Abraham and Jacob obeyed the commandment to pay a tithe of one-tenth of their increase (see Hebrews 7:1–10; Genesis 14:19–20; 28:20–22) .

在近代，先知約瑟．斯密曾祈求：「主啊！向您的僕人顯示，您要求您人民多少財產作為什一奉獻」（教約第119 篇，前言）。

In modern times the Prophet Joseph Smith prayed, “O Lord, show unto thy servants how much thou requirest of the properties of thy people for a tithing” (D&C 119, section introduction).

The Lord answered: “This shall be the beginning of the tithing of my people .

之後，那些已經這樣繳付什一奉獻的人，要每年繳納他們全部收益的十分之一；……這將是他們永遠常存的律法」（教約119：3-4）。

And after that, those who have thus been tithed shall pay one-tenth of all their interest annually; and this shall be a standing law unto them forever” (D&C 119:3–4).

The First Presidency has explained that “one-tenth of all their interest annually” refers to our income (see First Presidency letter, Mar. 19, 1970) .

When we pay tithing we show our faithfulness to the Lord.

We also teach our children the value of this law.

We Should Give Willingly

It is important to give willingly.

「人繳付什一奉獻卻不快樂，就是被掠奪了這祝福的一部分。

“When one pays his tithing without enjoyment he is robbed of a part of the blessing.

他必須學習以歡喜、樂意和快樂的心付出，這樣他的奉獻才會得到祝福」（ Stephen LRichards, The Law of Tithing [pamphlet, 1983], 8）。

He must learn to give cheerfully, willingly and joyfully, and his gift will be blessed” (Stephen L Richards, The Law of Tithing [pamphlet, 1983], 8) .

The Apostle Paul taught that how we give is as important as what we give.

He said, “Let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7) .

Tithing and Other Offerings

As members of the Church, we give tithing and other offerings to the Lord .

Tithing

教會把什一奉獻用在許多地方。

Tithing is used by the Church for many purposes.

例如：1. 建造、維修及管理聖殿、教堂和其他建築物。

Some of these are to: 1. Build, maintain, and operate temples, meetinghouses, and other buildings .

2. 為支聯會、支會和教會其他單位提供運作的經費。（這些單位用這些經費來推動教會的聖職計畫，包括教導福音和舉辦社交活動。）

2. Provide operating funds for stakes, wards, and other units of the Church. (These units use the funds to carry out the ecclesiastical programs of the Church, which include teaching the gospel and conducting social activities.)

3. 協助傳道計畫。

3. Help the missionary program .

4. 在教會的學校、福音進修班和福音研究所教育年輕人。

4. Educate young people in Church schools, seminaries, and institutes .

Other Offerings

禁食捐獻。教友們每個月禁食，連續兩餐不吃不喝。

Fast Offerings. Church members fast each month by going without food and drink for two consecutive meals.

他們至少會奉獻這兩餐原本所需花費的金額。

They contribute at least the amount of money they would have spent for the meals.

他們可以在能力範圍內慷慨奉獻。

They may give as generously as they are able.

這樣的奉獻稱為禁食捐獻。

This offering is called the fast offering.

主教用這些禁食捐獻為貧困者提供食物、庇護所、衣物和醫療照護。（見本書第25 章。）

Bishops use these fast offerings to provide food, shelter, clothing, and medical care for the needy. (See chapter 25 in this book.)

在禁食日這天，教友們參加禁食見證聚會，彼此分享他們對基督及其福音的見證。

As part of the fast day, members attend a meeting called the fast and testimony meeting, where they share with each other their testimonies of Christ and His gospel .

其它捐款。教友們可以捐款資助教會的其他計畫，例如：傳道事工、永久教育基金、聖殿建築及人道救援計畫。

Other Donations. Church members may donate to other efforts of the Church, such as missionary work, the Perpetual Education Fund, temple construction, and humanitarian aid .

服務。教友們也可以奉獻時間、技能和物品來幫助別人。

Service. Members also offer their time, skills, and goods to help others.

這樣的服務讓教會能夠在社區、國家和國際上幫助全世界有需要的教友和非教友，特別是在有災難發生時。

This service allows the Church to help needy members and nonmembers around the world at community, national, and international levels, especially when disasters occur .

我們繳付什一奉獻和捐獻時，會得到祝福主應許我們，只要我們忠信地繳付什一奉獻和捐獻，祂就會祝福我們。

We Are Blessed When We Give Tithes and Offerings The Lord promises to bless us as we faithfully pay our tithes and offerings.

祂說：「你們要將當納的十分之一全然送入倉庫，使我家有糧，以此試試我，是否為你們敞開天上的窗戶，傾福與你們，甚至無處可容」（瑪拉基書3：10）。

He said, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith ... if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:10) .

近代的啟示談到繳付什一奉獻的人會得到的另一項祝福：「實在這是犧牲的日子，是我人民繳納什一奉獻的日子；因為繳納什一奉獻的人，在祂來臨時將不被焚燒」（教約64：23）。

Latter-day revelation tells of another blessing for those who tithe: “Verily it is a day of sacrifice, and a day for the tithing of my people; for he that is tithed shall not be burned at his coming” (D&C 64:23) .

我們被應許的是物質和靈性上的雙重祝福。

The blessings we have been promised are both material and spiritual .

只要我們樂意奉獻，天父就會幫助我們，讓我們能提供自己日常所需的飲食、衣物和庇護所。

If we give willingly, Heavenly Father will help us provide for our daily needs of food, clothes, and shelter.

戈登．興格萊會長對住在菲律賓的後期聖徒說，只要這人民「願意接受福音，實踐福音，即便是窮苦的人，也繳付什一奉獻和捐獻，主必定為他們實現祂在古代所作的應許，他們的碗裡一定有米飯可吃，他們的身上一定有衣可穿，他們的頭上一定有遮蔽風雨的房屋。

Speaking to Latterday Saints in the Philippines, President Gordon B. Hinckley said that if people “will accept the gospel and live it, pay their tithes and offerings, even though those be meager, the Lord will keep His ancient promise in their behalf, and they will have rice in their bowls and clothing on their backs and shelter over their heads.

我找不到其他的解決之道。

I do not see any other solution.

他們需要一股比世上任何力量都更偉大的力量來提升和幫助他們」（“ Inspirational Thoughts,”Ensign,Aug. 1997, 7）。

They need a power greater than any earthly power to lift them and help them” (“Inspirational Thoughts,” Ensign, Aug. 1997, 7).

The Lord will also help us grow “in a knowledge of God, and in a testimony, and in the power to live the gospel and to inspire our families to do the same” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant [2002], 124) .

繳付什一奉獻和捐獻的人會蒙受厚福。

Those who pay their tithes and offerings are greatly blessed.

他們會有美好的感受，知道自己在協助建立神在世上的國度。

They have a good feeling that they are helping to build the kingdom of God on earth .
